Liz Truss Slams Starmer for Failing to Back Western Civilization

NEW YORK, D.C. — In a searing interview on Newsmax's Saturday Report, former British Prime Minister Liz Truss issued a dire warning to the international community, claiming that Current PM Keir Starmer "fundamentally does not back Western civilization." Truss’s comments come amid a deepening rift between London and the Trump administration over Starmer’s perceived hesitation in supporting U.S. military strikes against the Iranian regime.

Truss, who has become a vocal critic of the left-wing Labour government, argued that Starmer is no longer acting in the interest of the "Special Relationship," instead "kowtowing" to international institutions and radical internal political pressures.

The Base Access Scandal and "Islamist" Pressure

The core of Truss’s critique centers on Starmer’s initial refusal to allow U.S. forces to use British regional air bases for operations in Iran. According to Truss, this was not a legal decision, but a political one:

  • Internal Pressure: Truss claimed Starmer is "in hock to the Islamists within Britain," suggesting that some of his supporters actually favor the Iranian regime.

  • Reputational Damage: "He’s not been strong. He’s not backed the United States," Truss stated. "It gives our country a very bad reputation."

  • Military Readiness: She cited "very, very serious" concerns about the state of Britain’s armed forces, noting delays in deploying naval vessels to the Gulf that have even drawn complaints from Middle Eastern allies.

"No Winston Churchill"

When asked about President Donald Trump’s recent jab that Starmer is "no Winston Churchill," Truss called the assessment an "understatement." She noted that Starmer is currently "the least popular prime minister in British history" and is viewed with "derision" across the country.
