CHAPTER 2 — THE FAMILY THAT NEVER FORGAVE

The Dixon estate sat miles away from the city.
Not a mansion.
A fortress disguised as elegance.
Olivia hadn’t been there in years.
Not since she chose Chad over them.
Not since she believed love was something you could outrun your bloodline for.
Now the gates opened for her without question.
Because they had been waiting.
Inside the main hall, her father stood by the fireplace.
No smile.
No warmth.
Just observation.
“You called,” he said.
Olivia nodded.
“I didn’t have anywhere else.”
That landed differently.
Her father studied her swollen belly.
Then her face.
“You stayed longer than we expected,” he said.
It wasn’t cruel.
Just factual.
Olivia swallowed.
“I thought he loved me.”
Her father exhaled through his nose.
“Love doesn’t remove your name from financial systems.”
A woman entered behind him—her older sister, Claire Dixon.
Sharp suit.
Sharper eyes.
“You’re lucky we kept your access token active,” Claire said.
Olivia frowned.
“You were still watching him?”
“Of course we were,” Claire replied. “He married a Dixon. Did you think we’d ignore it?”
That silence hit harder than anything Chad ever said.
Her father stepped forward.
“What happened?”
Olivia told them everything.
The betrayal.
The mistress.
The public humiliation.
The driveway.
The laughter.
Every word landed like a report.
Not emotional.
Not exaggerated.
Just truth.
When she finished, the room was quiet.
Then Claire spoke.
“He didn’t just throw you out,” she said. “He declared war on a family he didn’t understand.”
Her father nodded once.
“Then he will learn.”
Olivia looked up sharply.
“What are you going to do?”
Her father turned toward the window.
Outside, security teams moved quietly across the estate.
Files were already open.
Phones already ringing.
Legal pressure already building.
“We are going to remind him,” he said calmly, “what ownership actually means.”
Claire stepped closer.
“You’re not going back there,” she told Olivia.
Olivia hesitated.
“I need closure.”
Claire shook her head.
“No,” she corrected. “You need protection.”
A pause.
Then softer:
“And so does your child.”
That changed something in Olivia’s expression.
Her hand rested on her stomach again.
May you like
For the first time—
she nodded.
