Chapter 5 - The Fall of the ArrogantTwo weeks later, the downtown flagship store of Aurelia & Co. was undergoing a dramatic transformation.

The security guards stood at attention, but the toxic, snobbish atmosphere that had defined the showroom floor under Blessing’s reign was completely gone. A new branch manager—a kind, professional woman handpicked by Kaima—had instituted a strict policy of equal, respectful service for every single person who walked through the front doors, whether they wore silk suits or faded Ankara wrappers.

Blessing sat at a small plastic table in the cramped breakroom, furiously packing her personal belongings into a cardboard box. Her face was flushed with humiliated rage. Her phone buzzed continuously on the table—messages from former colleagues, socialites who no longer wanted her friendship, and debt collectors demanding payment for the extravagant lifestyle she had maintained through embezzled commissions and company perks.

The heavy glass door of the office swung open, and Kaima stepped inside.

She wore a sharply tailored, elegant emerald-green pantsuit, her hair styled in sleek cornrows, and around her neck hung the stunning diamond-encrusted 'Ebele Heart' necklace, catching the showroom lights.

Blessing looked up, her eyes narrowing into slits of pure venom. She slammed a cosmetic compact into her box.

— Are you here to gloat, Kaima? Blessing spat out, standing up to tower over the table. — Enjoy your little Cinderella moment while it lasts. You think a nobody like you can actually run corporate relations? You don't belong here! You’ll crack under the pressure within a month!

Kaima didn't flinch. She didn't raise her voice. She simply looked at Blessing with a calm, unshakeable poise that infuriated the former manager even more.

— I didn't come to gloat, Blessing, Kaima said smoothly, stepping closer. — I came to deliver a final notice from the corporate legal department.

Kaima placed a crisp, official document down on the table right beside Blessing’s cardboard box.

Blessing glanced down at the paper, and the color instantly drained from her face. Her hands began to tremble.

— What... what is this? she whispered, her voice cracking.

— An official notice of forensic audit and criminal referral, Kaima explained calmly. — During our routine financial review of the branch accounts over the past three years, the internal audit team discovered systematic skimming of junior associate commissions, fraudulent inventory write-offs, and unauthorized personal expense claims totaling over eighteen million naira.

Blessing stumbled backward, her hip hitting the edge of the supply cabinet. — No... no, you can't prove—

— The federal economic crimes unit already has the digital ledger backups, Kaima continued, her tone remaining completely professional. — Mr. Aurelia personally authorized full prosecution. There will be no settlement, Blessing. You built your entire career here by stepping on the necks of people you thought were beneath you. Now, you get to experience what happens when accountability catches up.

As Kaima turned and walked out of the breakroom, leaving Blessing sliding down the cabinet wall in silent, panicked despair, Kaima felt a profound sense of closure. The marble floor of the jewelry shop no longer felt like a battlefield. It felt like home.
