Chapter 5 - The Glass Tower Falls

Rocco returned to Boston not as a boss, but as a ghost. He walked into the tower he had once owned, his clothes still smelling of the West Virginia mountains.

The guards didn't recognize him at first. When they did, they froze.

He walked into Gino’s office, the glass walls vibrating with the morning sun. Gino was sitting at the mahogany table, a glass of scotch in his hand. He looked older, smaller.

"You’re late," Gino said, his voice devoid of emotion.

"I found the debt," Rocco said, tossing a new ledger onto the table—the real one, the one Ray had kept.

Gino didn't look at it. "You think you can destroy us? You built this world, Rocco."

"I built it on a lie," Rocco replied. "I’ve sent the digital files to the federal authorities. Every land deed, every bribe, every payoff in the last forty years. It’s all there."

Gino stood up, his face reddening. "You’ve killed us! You’ve killed the family!"

"The family was already dead, Gino," Rocco said. "You just didn't realize that keeping someone isn't the same as loving them."

The chaos that followed was total. Federal agents swarmed the tower within minutes. The empire of the Castellanos collapsed in a single afternoon. Gino was arrested, his face splashed across every news channel in the country. Rocco was taken into custody as well, though he was offered a deal—a deal that required him to testify against everything he had ever been.

He took the deal. He didn't care about the prison time. He cared about the silence that followed.

For the first time, the docks were quiet. The loans were voided. The city breathed a sigh of relief as the shadow of the Castellano name was lifted from the harbor.
