Chapter 6 - A New Dawn and True FreedomThree months later, the legal nightmare was entirely behind me.

The divorce was finalized with clean efficiency, the fraudulent loans were legally re-assigned back to Eric through a court-mandated debt restructuring, and the Greenwich estate was officially re-titled solely in my name.
My mother-in-law Diane and brother-in-law Mark had reportedly moved three states away to live with a distant cousin after being evicted from their temporary apartment, thoroughly disgraced and completely broke. My laptop was brand new—the top-of-the-line model, locked with biometric security and placed securely on a heavy mahogany desk inside my private home office. Nobody was ever touching it again.
I looked out across the sunlit lawn, breathing in the quiet, absolute peace of a life I had finally conquered on my own terms. The storm had passed, and the horizon belonged entirely to me.
