Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

Six months later.
The morning sun poured through the arched windows of the Kensington Tower penthouse, bathing the room in a warm, golden glow.
The air smelled of fresh pancakes, roasted coffee, and the sweet scent of autumn flowers.
At the center island of the kitchen, Nate stood flipping pancakes with effortless expertise, wearing a comfortable cashmere sweater. Sitting across from him, eating cereal with surgical precision, was a healthy, energetic eight-year-old boy with bright eyes and a mop of curly brown hair—Leo.
Thanks to the revolutionary biologic treatments covered by Kensington Media Group’s executive health plan, Leo’s autoimmune disorder was in full remission. He laughed as Chloe and Harper played a game of paper-airplane golf across the living room, aiming for a target marked by a strip of blue painter’s tape.
The penthouse was no longer a cold fortress of glass and steel. It was a home.
The private elevator chimed.
Victoria stepped out, dressed in a sharp white blazer and silk trousers, looking every inch the victorious billionaire mogul. But the sharp, defensive edge in her eyes was entirely gone, replaced by a radiant, soft warmth.
She walked straight to the kitchen island, wrapping her arms around Nate’s waist from behind and pressing her cheek against his shoulder.
Nate smiled, setting the spatula down and turning to wrap his arms around her, kissing the top of her head.
“How was the morning shareholder meeting?” Nate asked softly.
“Meridian Tech is bankrupt, Richard Sterling Hughes is awaiting federal trial for kidnapping and corporate espionage, and our stock hit an all-time high,” Victoria reported happily, looking up into his eyes. “Other than that, it was a quiet morning.”
Chloe and Harper ran over, diving into both of them in a massive group hug.
“Dad! Mom! Tell Leo to stop cheating at airplane golf!” Chloe protested playfully.
“I am not cheating! My aerodynamics are just superior!” Leo shot back, grinning widely.
Nate laughed, looking down at the children he had saved, and then at the brilliant, fierce woman who had saved him right back.
The 14 elite nannies who had fled Kensington Tower could never have handled the billionaire’s twin daughters because they had tried to manage them with rules and bribes.
Nate had handled them with love, boundaries, and the quiet courage of a father who knew what it meant to lose everything—and fight to get it back.

As the sunlight illuminated the happy chaos of the penthouse, Victoria rested her head against Nate’s chest, knowing that the greatest merger of her life had nothing to do with Wall Street.
They had finally found their way home.
