Chapter 6 - A New DynastyThe rain had finally stopped by dawn, leaving the canyon air crisp, clean, and smelling of damp pine.

The living room of the estate was quiet. Russo, Sullivan, and their surviving enforcers were currently locked in the back of a refrigerated shipping truck headed south, permanently erased from the Chicago syndicate. The flash drive containing Elena’s dark legacy had been uploaded to every federal prosecutor’s office and rival family network simultaneously, obliterating what was left of her corrupt empire in a single, surgical strike.
Declan sat on the edge of the leather sofa, nursing a cup of black coffee. His left knee ached from the night's exertion, but for the first time in years, the pain felt distant.
Footsteps approached softly from behind.
Camila walked into the room, holding a fresh cup of coffee. She sat down beside him on the sofa, her shoulder brushing against his. The dark, severe pantsuit was gone, replaced by a soft cream sweater, but the fierce, unwavering strength in her eyes remained entirely unchanged.
"The federal task force just raided Elena’s offshore accounts," Camila said quietly, staring out the massive floor-to-ceiling windows at the sun rising over the canyon. "By noon, every asset she stole from my family—and yours—will be frozen."
Declan turned his head, studying her profile. The woman who had played the fragile, broken bird for twelve months was entirely gone, replaced by a partner who was sharper, deadlier, and far more brilliant than any capo he had ever trusted.
"You fooled everyone," Declan said, a slow, genuine smile breaking across his stern face. "My men, the syndicate, me. You played the part of the victim so well I almost forgot who I married."
"I wasn't playing a part, Declan," Camila turned her head, meeting his gaze with a warm, steady intensity. "I was surviving. But survival is a lonely business."
She reached out, her fingers gently brushing against his calloused knuckles.
"And now?" Declan asked, his voice softening into a register no one outside these walls had ever heard.

"Now," Camila replied, her lips curving into a rare, breathtaking smile, "we build something real. No lies, no hidden ledgers, and no ghosts."
Declan intertwined his fingers with hers, lifting her hand to his lips. The fragile, broken home was gone. In its place stood a new dynasty, forged in fire, blood, and absolute truth.
