Chapter 5 - The Fall of ViperaBy 3:00 AM, the war for the Hanule Syndicate reached its brutal climax.

Kwan Woo had gathered his loyal lieutenants and thirty armed Volkov mercenaries in the penthouse suite of the 55th Street tower, believing Min Jae was dead and preparing to declare himself Chairman.
They didn't expect the building’s power grid to be cut completely from the main server room.
Nor did they expect Min Jae, armed with Nia’s financial data and supported by eighty loyal Hanule tactical operators, to strike from the private helipad on the roof.
The assault was swift, silent, and absolute.
Nia sat safely inside an armored command vehicle parked two blocks away, watching real-time encrypted tactical feeds on a tablet monitor alongside Director Lim, who had proven his loyalty by unlocking the building's internal security mainframe for Min Jae’s assault team.
On the screen, she watched as Min Jae’s forces breached the penthouse glass, throwing flashbang grenades that blinded the mercenaries inside.
Through the thermal camera feed, Nia saw Min Jae advance through the smoke like a shadow of death. He moved with terrifying speed, clearing room after room until he confronted Kwan Woo in the center of the grand boardroom.
Kwan Woo dropped to his knees, raising his hands in desperate plea as Min Jae stood over him, holding a golden fountain pen—the very same pen he had tapped against Nia’s folder on her first day.
On the audio feed, Kwan Woo’s frantic voice echoed: "Min Jae! Please! It was Volkov! He forced me! I had no choice!"
"You had every choice," Min Jae’s cold voice responded over the radio. "You broke my trust. And worse... you targeted the woman I love."
A single gun shot echoed through the audio feed.
Then silence.
Ten minutes later, the doors of the armored command vehicle opened.
Min Jae stepped inside. His suit was pristine once more, his face clean, his eyes filled with a deep, peaceful quiet that replaced the storm that had raged inside him for years.
He walked over to where Nia sat. He didn't say a word. He simply reached out his hand.
Nia took it, standing up and throwing her arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her slightly off the floor as he held her tight against his heart.
"It's over, Nia," Min Jae whispered against her hair. "The Volkovs have fled the state. Kwan Woo’s faction is gone. The syndicate is secure."

"And us?" Nia asked softly, looking up into his dark eyes. "What happens to us?"
Min Jae smiled, a warm, genuine smile that lit up his entire face. "That depends on you, Miss Brooks. Are you ready to quit your job as my auditor... and become my partner?"
