Chapter 4 - Shadows Over Arch StreetThe industrial warehouse on 5th and Arch looked abandoned from the outside, its corrugated metal siding rusted and weathered by decades of industrial neglect. But as Julian’s black sedan pulled silently into the weed-choked courtyard, the perimeter was swarming with armed sentries.

They didn't last ten seconds.
Before the guards could raise their weapons, silent shadows dropped from the overhead girders, neutralizing them with ruthless, bloodless efficiency. Within minutes, the heavy steel loading bay door was breached from the inside.
Mara sat in the passenger seat of the lead vehicle, locked inside the armored cabin despite her furious protests. She watched through the bulletproof glass as Julian stepped out of the vehicle, his dark overcoat billowing slightly in the damp night wind. He didn't carry a rifle like his men. He carried a heavy, polished silver-handled cane—not for support, but as a weapon.
Inside the warehouse, Salvatore Moretti—a greasy, overweight lieutenant who fancied himself a kingpin—was barking orders into a satellite phone when the heavy iron doors were kicked off their hinges with a deafening crash.
"What the—" Moretti stammered, dropping his phone as thirty armed men flooded the cavernous space, surrounding his dozen bodyguards before they could even draw their sidearms.
Julian walked through the center of the formation. His footsteps echoed off the concrete floor like the strikes of a metronome.
Moretti’s face drained of color as he recognized the man stepping out of the shadows.
"Vale," Moretti swallowed hard, forcing a arrogant sneer onto his lips. "You’ve got some nerve walking into my—"
Julian didn't let him finish.
With blinding speed, Julian closed the distance, sweeping Moretti’s legs out from under him with the heavy silver cane. The lieutenant crashed hard onto the concrete, gasping for air as Julian placed the tip of the cane directly over Moretti’s throat, pressing down just enough to cut off his windpipe.
"You hit my trucks, Salvatore," Julian said, his voice dropping into a register so cold it made the surrounding mercenaries flinch. "You terrified innocent people in a diner that has nothing to do with our business. And worst of all, you made a mess of my evening."
"I... I was just following orders!" Moretti choked out, clawing frantically at the silver tip of the cane. "The board wanted to test your supply lines! It wasn't personal!"
"Everything in this city is personal to me," Julian replied quietly.
He leaned down, his face inches from Moretti’s sweating forehead. "You will surrender all shipping manifests, clear out of the 5th District by midnight, and wire five million dollars to the Blue Lantern restoration fund for property damage and emotional distress."
Moretti’s eyes bulged. "Five million?! For a greasy diner?!"
Julian increased the pressure on the cane. Moretti let out a strangled gurgle, his face turning purple.
"Make it ten," Julian whispered. "For the inconvenience."
"Y-yes!" Moretti gasped, thrashing against the floor. "Ten million! Just take the weight off!"

Julian stepped back, flicking his cane upward with casual disdain as if he had just stepped in something unpleasant. He turned to his second-in-command.
"Clean up this trash," Julian ordered. "And make sure the transfer clears before the stock market opens."
