Chapter 4 - Collateral Damage
The tension peaks when the corruption ring attempts to frame Morgan for the very fraud she is uncovering. Her access to the mainframes is revoked. She is placed on administrative leave. Isolated from her resources, she has to rely on the "discipline and structure" she prides herself on to survive.
She reaches out to an unlikely ally: an old colleague she once helped rise through the ranks who now holds a position in federal oversight. Meanwhile, her family, now completely bankrupt and desperate, begins to turn on each other. Vanessa blames their father for his lack of foresight; the mother blames Vanessa for marrying a "liability." The family dynamic disintegrates into a beautiful, chaotic mess of recriminations.
