Chapter 3 - The Illusory Legal Battle

Garrett slowly released his grip on Sienna’s arm, his brow furrowing as he looked at her calm, unsettling expression. "What do you mean, too late?" he spat, adjusting his dark leather watch with a jerky, nervous movement. "The lawyers checked the county registry last week, Sienna. The land is still registered under your name. The family trust has a priority reversionary clause on any property gifted by our father if the recipient engages in non-conforming commercial activity."

"Is that what your high-priced corporate lawyers told you, Bố?" Sienna asked, walking past her brother with a slow, deliberate pace. She reached the wooden table and picked up her white ceramic mug, taking a calm sip of her tea. "That because I built a agricultural business on land you called 'dirt,' it violates the terms of your gift?"

Douglas stepped forward, his polished shoes gathering a fine layer of dust from the gravel. He pulled a gold fountain pen from his breast pocket and slammed it onto the table next to the eviction notices. "We don't need to argue the legalities here, Sienna. The paperwork is simple. You sign a voluntary quitclaim deed transferring the property to Fry Holdings LLC. In exchange, I will allow you to keep twenty thousand dollars for relocation expenses. If you refuse, we file the injunction today, lock these gates, and let the bank freeze your business accounts pending litigation. You don't have the capital to fight a corporate syndicate in court for two years."

"He’s right, Sienna," Vivien chimed in, her voice dripping with an artificial, sweet condescension as she walked over to the table. She tapped her sharp, manicured nails against the wood. "Think of the family. Your brother has a brilliant future ahead of him. His tech ventures just need a little breathing room. You’ve had your fun playing with flowers, but it's time to let the real business professionals handle the asset."

Sienna looked down at the gold pen resting on the white paper. The text of the document was predatory, designed to strip her of her intellectual property, her brand name, and her land without a single shred of recourse.

"Let me ask you something, Mom," Sienna said, her voice dropping into a soft, intimate whisper that seemed to command the entire space. "When I was freezing in this shack during that first winter, when my lips were blue and I was working fourteen hours a day just to pay the taxes you left me with... where was the family trust then?"

Vivien shifted her weight, her expression turning into a sharp sneer. "Don't be dramatic, Sienna. It was a character-building exercise. You survived."

"And when I asked for a three-thousand-dollar loan to buy my first seed irrigation lines, Bố... why did you tell your secretary to block my number?"

Douglas didn't blink. His expression remained a portrait of corporate ice. "A good businessman doesn't throw good money after bad investments. You hadn't proven the concept then. Now the market has validated the asset, and as the original provider of the capital—the land—I am exercising my right to reallocate resources to where they are most critically needed."

"To pay off a crypto addict's debt to loan sharks," Sienna stated flatly.

"Watch your mouth!" Garrett roared, lunging toward the table, his face turning an ugly, mottled purple. He grabbed the white ceramic mug and hurled it against the side of the wooden shack, where it shattered into a dozen sharp, porcelain shards, the lavender tea dripping down the weathered wood like a wound. "You’re nothing compared to me! I have an Ivy League degree! You’re just a glorified gardener who got lucky on social media! Sign the papers!"

Sienna didn't flinch as the mug shattered. She looked down at the broken pieces on the ground, then looked back up at her brother. The final traces of familial attachment vanished from her heart, leaving behind an absolute, beautiful void.

"I won't sign those papers, Garrett," Sienna said softly.

Douglas’s eyes narrowed into dangerous, icy slits. He pulled out his smartphone, his thumb hovering over a pre-dialed number. "This is your last warning, Sienna. My legal team is on standby at the county courthouse. The moment I press dial, they file the fraud injunction against your LLC. We will drag your name through the agricultural boards, cancel your supply contracts, and ruin your reputation before the week is out."

"Go ahead, Bố," Sienna said, gesturing to his phone with a calm wave of her hand. "Call them. Tell them to check the secondary federal enterprise registry while they're at it. Because if they only checked the county land records, they missed the most important transaction of the fiscal year."

Garrett laughed, a shrill, defensive sound that carried the edge of pure panic. "What are you talking about? You haven't done anything. You're bluffing to buy time!"

"I don't need to buy time, Garrett," Sienna said, turning her head toward the long, winding road that led to the highway. "Because my business partners just arrived."
