Chapter 4 - The Fall of the TitanThe arrest of Grant Holloway was broadcast across every major news network in the country before noon.

Black-suited federal agents escorted him down the limestone steps of St. Matthew’s Cathedral—the very steps that had been blanketed in white roses only hours earlier. Grant kept his head down, shielding his face with handcuffed wrists as flashbulbs blinded him from every angle. The reporters shouted questions about fraud, embezzlement, domestic abuse, and kidnapping, but the man who had once owned the city had nothing left to say.
Inside the cathedral vestry, the atmosphere was quiet, thick with the smell of old incense and lingering adrenaline.
Claire sat on a velvet-upholstered bench, a steaming cup of chamomile tea in her hands. Elena sat beside her, holding her hand, while Sofia stood guard by the door, occasionally checking her tablet for updates from the federal raiding teams downtown.
“Are you alright, sweetheart?” Elena asked softly, brushing a stray lock of hair from Claire’s forehead. “The stress today… are you feeling any contractions?”
“I’m fine, Mom,” Claire smiled, a genuine, radiant smile that reached her eyes for the first time in five years. “I’ve never felt stronger. Knowing you’re alive… knowing I wasn't losing my mind… it’s the greatest weight lifted off my shoulders.”
“Grant will never touch you again,” Elena vowed, her jaw set with fierce determination. “I’ve spent five years planning this, gathering every shred of evidence while locked away in that clinic, waiting for the exact moment when his empire was bloated enough to pop like a balloon. When he tried to force you into public submission today, he walked right into the trap.”
The vestry door opened quietly, and District Attorney Thomas Vance stepped inside, holding a thick manila folder.
“Mrs. Holloway, Elena,” Thomas nodded respectfully. “The initial asset freeze has been approved by the federal judge. Every account tied to Grant Holloway, his shell companies, and the Holloway Foundation has been locked. Furthermore, we’ve voided the prenuptial agreement Grant forced Claire to sign under duress six years ago.”
Claire looked up, surprised. “Voided?”
“It was executed using fraudulent medical clearances provided by Dr. Crane, who is currently cooperating with our office in exchange for a reduced sentence,” Thomas explained, placing the folder on the table. “By law, every single asset Grant accumulated—including the Monument Avenue townhouse, the corporate holdings, and his personal accounts—reverts to the primary family trust. Which means, legally, Claire owns everything.”
Sofia whistled softly from the doorway. “Well, congratulations, boss. You went from a prisoner in a gilded cage to owning half of Virginia before lunch.”
Claire looked down at the folder, then placed her hand gently over her stomach. The financial freedom was staggering, but the true victory was the reclamation of her life, her identity, and her future with her child.

“I don't want his empire, Thomas,” Claire said calmly. “I want the foundation restructured into a safehouse and resource network for victims of domestic abuse and corporate intimidation. Let Grant’s dirty money actually do some good for once.”
Thomas smiled, his eyes full of respect. “Consider it done.”
