Chapter 5 - The Siege of Newark PortThe rain over the Newark industrial docks fell in heavy, freezing sheets.

Inside a massive, rusting shipping warehouse near Pier 4, Vincent Marcone—a silver-haired crime patriarch with cold, dead eyes—sat in a leather chair, surrounded by fifteen heavily armed enforcers.
On the table in front of him sat a digital ledger displaying the financial routes of his illegal narcotics operations.
“Where are the scouts?” Marcone barked at his lieutenant. “Vance’s estate has been quiet all evening. He’s hiding behind his walls like a coward.”
Before the lieutenant could answer, the warehouse lights flickered once, twice, and died completely, plunging the vast space into pitch blackness.
“Guns up!” Marcone screamed, drawing his weapon.
A split second later, the reinforced steel loading doors at the front of the warehouse didn't just open—they exploded inward with a deafening, metallic roar as an armored tactical truck smashed through the locks.
Floodlights mounted on the truck blinded Marcone’s men, cutting through the darkness with agonizing intensity.
RAT-A-TAT-TAT!
Suppressed gunfire erupted from the shadows as Julian Vance’s elite enforcers swept through the warehouse with terrifying, military precision. Marcone’s men fell one by one, outmatched, outmaneuvered, and completely overwhelmed by the speed of the attack.
Julian stepped through the shattered loading doors, dressed in a black tactical coat, a heavy rifle held low against his chest.
He didn't run. He walked with absolute, unhurried dominance through the crossfire, firing precise, single shots that neutralized any threat in his path.
Within four minutes, the warehouse was silent again, save for the hum of the truck’s engine and the groan of wounded men.
Sal Marcone lay on his back near his desk, bleeding from a shoulder wound, his weapon lying five feet out of reach on the wet concrete.
Julian walked up to him, his heavy boots clicking against the floor. He stood over the rival boss, looking down with cold, absolute detachment.
“Vance...” Marcone wheezed, blood bubbling at his lips. “You... you burned your whole empire... for a nobody from the South End...”
Julian leaned down, grabbing Marcone by his lapels, pulling him up until their eyes were level.

“Her name is Nora,” Julian whispered into the dying man’s ear, his voice flat and terrifyingly cold. “And she just inherited everything you owned.”
A single shot echoed through the empty warehouse.
