Chapter 5 - The Fall of the House of Caine

The next thirty-six hours were a masterpiece of silent, calculated strategy.

Grayson did not rush out to launch a blind, violent assault. He used the sanctuary of Delia’s small apartment to orchestrate a methodical counter-offensive.

Using a secure, burner satellite phone Delia had purchased at a local pharmacy, Grayson contacted the few men inside his syndicate whose loyalty was unquestionable.

The first was Foster—the old, salt-and-pepper-haired guard who had been ousted from the estate by Petrov.

Foster had been living in retirement in South Kingstown, bitter and suspicious. When he heard Grayson’s voice on the line, the old man wept with joy.

"Boss! They told us you were dead! Silvio called an emergency council meeting at the Harbor Club for tonight at eight o'clock! He’s signing over the docks to the Boston family!"

"I’m alive, Foster," Grayson replied coldly. "And tonight, we put an end to the mutiny. Gather the old guard—the men who fought alongside my father. Tell them to meet me at the rear docks at seven."

Grayson turned to Delia, who was standing by the window keeping watch.

"Silvio has placed heavy security at the Harbor Club," Grayson explained, laying out a blueprint of the waterfront building on the dining table. "Main doors, elevators, and balconies will be locked down. But the building was originally a fish packing plant built in the 1920s. There’s a service entrance used by domestic staff and caterers."

Delia looked at the blueprint, then pointed to her own Bellhaven uniform hanging on the back of the door.

She pulled out her board and wrote:

BELLHAVEN SERVICES PROVIDES THE CLEANING STAFF FOR THE HARBOR CLUB. I HAVE A UNIVERSAL KEY CARD FOR THE SERVICE DOORS.

Grayson’s eyes lit up with brilliant, fierce admiration. "You are incredible, Delia."

By seven-thirty that evening, a cold fog had settled over Providence Harbor.

Outside the grand marble entrance of the Harbor Club, dozens of black luxury sedans lined the private driveway. Inside the grand second-floor ballroom, over fifty high-ranking syndicate bosses, capos, and Boston representatives gathered around a long mahogany conference table.

Sitting at the head of the table was Silvio Caine—a silver-haired, immaculate old man wearing a gold ring and a dark velvet suit.

Beside him stood Emmett Vaughn, clutching a black leather briefcase containing the dock transfer deeds.

"Brothers of the coast," Silvio announced, putting on a grand, theatrical display of solemn grief. "We gather tonight in memory of my nephew, Grayson, who fell victim to an unfortunate, violent ambush three days ago."

A few older capos bowed their heads, though eyes flickered with suspicion.

"In his honor," Silvio continued smoothly, "we must move forward. We must secure our future. Tonight, I sign the harbor lease agreement with our esteemed partners from Boston!"

Silvio picked up a golden fountain pen, turning to the signature page of the contract.

In the service corridor behind the grand ballroom, Delia slipped through the heavy door using her Bellhaven key card.

She wore her dark uniform, carrying a large silver serving tray piled high with fresh linens. Beneath the linens lay a small, high-powered wireless audio transmitter connected directly to Grayson’s receiver outside.

Delia placed the tray on the service sideboard near the grand double doors of the ballroom. She casually tapped a small concealed button on the side of her apron, activating the house projection screen mounted above the dais—a system used for corporate presentations that she had learned to operate during previous cleaning shifts.

Suddenly, the massive 100-inch projection screen behind Silvio flickered to life.

An audio recording—captured by Delia’s phone during Petrov’s conversation at the estate—erupted through the ballroom’s high-output sound system!

"The fish is in the net," Petrov’s recorded voice echoed through the hall, clear as crystal. "Vaughn has neutralized the house guards. Tell the old man it’s done... Silvio’s orders."

The ballroom exploded into sudden, violent chaos!

Capos stood up from their chairs, drawing weapons, pointing them directly at Silvio and Vaughn!

"What is this?!" Capo Moretti roared, drawing his revolver. "You murdered Warren's son, Silvio?!"

"It’s a lie! It’s a trick!" Silvio shrieked, dropping his pen, his face turning pale as ashes. "Vaughn! Shoot them!"

Before Vaughn could pull his weapon, the heavy double doors at the rear of the hall were kicked completely off their hinges!

BOOM!

Grayson Caine walked into the ballroom.

He was dressed in an immaculate black suit, his grey eyes burning with absolute, terrifying vengeance. Behind him stood Foster and thirty heavily armed veteran enforcers, their weapons leveled at Silvio’s men.

"Looking for me, Uncle?" Grayson’s voice rumbled like thunder across the silent room.
