Chapter 6 - The New EraOne year later.

The annual Carrington Global Shareholders Gala was being held at the newly renovated Halston Theater—the very place where, twelve months earlier, Grant Carrington had tried to publicly destroy his wife.

Tonight, the crimson carpet was lined with white roses and golden lanterns.

The air was electric with anticipation as a sleek black sedan pulled up to the entrance. The door opened, and Theodore Carrington stepped out, looking regal and proud in a classic black tuxedo.

He turned and offered his arm to the woman stepping out behind him.

Lily Carrington looked ethereal.

She wore a breathtaking, custom navy silk gown that draped flawlessly over her slender frame. Her dark hair fell in soft, elegant waves around her shoulders, and around her neck gleamed the historic emerald necklace—restored, polished, and legally transferred into her permanent possession by the trust.

In her arms, she carried a gorgeous one-year-old girl in a white lace dress with a soft pink sash. Margaret Rose Carrington looked at the flashing cameras with curious, bright blue eyes, entirely unfazed by the noise.

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause.

Reporters shouted from the barricades, but their questions were no longer cruel or predatory.

“Mrs. Carrington! Carrington Global’s streaming service just hit one hundred million subscribers!”

“Lily! Is the new children’s hospital opening next month?”

“Margaret! Look over here!”

Lily smiled gracefully at the cameras, holding her daughter close as she walked up the carpet beside Theodore.

At the entrance of the theater, a giant digital billboard displayed the evening’s program:

CARRINGTON GLOBAL ANNUAL SUMMIT Pioneering the Future of Media & Philanthropy Led by Chief Executive Officer Lily Rose Carrington

As they stepped inside the grand foyer, away from the flashing cameras, Theodore looked at Lily, his eyes filled with immense warmth and admiration.

“Your mother-in-law would have loved you, Lily,” Theodore said softly, placing his hand over hers on his arm. “She always said that an empire is only as strong as the heart of the person who leads it.”

Lily looked down at her daughter, who reached up with a tiny hand to touch the gleaming emerald necklace resting against her chest.

“We built this for her, Theodore,” Lily said softly, her voice filled with absolute clarity and peace. “And nobody will ever take it away again.”

They walked into the roaring auditorium together, stepping out of the dark shadows of the past and into the brilliant, unbreakable light of their new legacy.
