Part 4: The Reckoning

The final confrontation took place at the Blackthorne Annual Gala — the same venue where Elena had been humiliated.
This time, Elena walked in wearing a stunning white gown, head high, scar on her lip visible like a badge of honor. The room fell silent as she entered.
Damien and Lila stood near the stage, surrounded by nervous investors.
When Elena approached, Damien’s face twisted with rage.
“You?” he spat.
Elena looked him straight in the eyes.
“Yes. Me.”
Security moved toward her, but she raised her hand. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
She signaled to the projector. The massive screen behind the stage lit up with documents, bank transfers, recordings of bribes — everything.
Gasps and murmurs filled the hall.
“You destroyed lives for profit,” Elena said, her voice clear and strong. “You used people and threw them away when they were no longer useful. Including me.”
Lila tried to slip away, but Elena’s next words stopped her cold.
“And you, Lila Chen — your signature is on half these documents.”
Chaos erupted. Investors turned on Damien. Board members demanded immediate resignations. Cameras flashed as journalists captured the downfall of a once-untouchable empire.
Damien lunged toward Elena, but security — now loyal to the new reality — held him back.
“You’ll pay for this!” he screamed.

Elena stepped closer, voice low so only he could hear:
“I already have. But now it’s your turn.”
