Chapter 6 - The New DawnTwo years later, the autumn air along the Hudson River was crisp, smelling of fallen leaves and woodsmoke.

The sprawling stone estate was no longer just a fortress of isolation and power; it was a home filled with life, warmth, and laughter.
In the sunlit kitchen, Lena stood by the marble island, laughing as she helped Martha prep dinner while classical music played softly from the speakers. Her left arm was completely healed, leaving only a faint, faded scar that she no longer needed to hide beneath long sleeves.
The front doors opened, followed by the familiar, heavy tread of footsteps in the hallway.

He stopped when he saw her.
Lena turned around, wiping her hands on a linen apron, a radiant, genuine smile lighting up her face—a smile that bore no resemblance to the frightened waitress who had once dropped a coffee cup in a downtown diner.
Vincent walked over, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close against his chest, burying his face in her hair.
“Rough day?” she murmured, resting her hands against his shoulders.
“The board meetings are exhausting,” Vincent mumbled against her neck, making her laugh. “I much prefer being home.”
“You’re always home now, Vincent,” she teased gently, turning in his arms to look up into his dark, affectionate eyes.

“Because you are my home,” he whispered, leaning down to kiss her.
Outside the towering windows, the sun dipped below the horizon, bathing the river in golden light. The nightmare of the past was gone, washed away by the courage of a single phone call and the fierce, unyielding love of a man who changed every rule in his world just to save her.
