Chapter 6 - The Language of LoveOne year later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the private terrace of the Hawthorne Grill—which had been completely bought out, renovated, and transformed into the magnificent headquarters of the Marlow-Beckett Linguistic & Intelligence Foundation.

The foundation provided free education, legal assistance, and protection for immigrant families and vulnerable workers across the city.

On the sun-drenched terrace overlooking the river, a celebration was in full swing.

Gavin Hale and his wife, Sarah, were laughing near the rose garden, safe, whole, and fully restored under Victor’s protection. Leo Mercer was standing by the champagne fountain, exchanging jokes with three off-duty security officers.

Near the edge of the terrace, standing by the stone balustrade, was Lana.

She wore a breathtaking white silk evening gown that hugged her graceful figure, her dark hair pinned back with sparkling diamond clips. In her hand, she held a glass of vintage champagne.

A pair of strong arms wrapped gently around her waist from behind.

Victor pulled her against his broad chest, resting his chin softly against her shoulder, his scent of cedarwood and warm sun surrounding her.

“What are you thinking about?” Victor whispered into her ear.

Lana smiled, leaning her head back against him, looking out over the sparkling river.

“I was thinking about a silver water pitcher,” Lana murmured with a quiet laugh. “And how four words changed my entire life.”

Victor chuckled softly, his arms tightening around her. “I thank God every single day that you broke the rule.”

He gently turned her around in his arms so she was facing him. He pulled a small, elegant velvet box from his inner jacket pocket and opened it.

Inside rested a magnificent ring—a radiant, flawless blue sapphire surrounded by a halo of brilliant white diamonds, shimmering under the summer light.

Victor looked deep into her hazel eyes, his face filled with an absolute, unshakeable love.

“Lana Beckett,” Victor said, his voice rich and full of emotion. “You brought truth back into my world. You gave me a reason to build something clean, peaceful, and real. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

Tears of pure, overwhelming joy welled up in Lana’s eyes.

She raised her hands, framing his handsome, strong face, and smiled up at him with all the love in her heart.

“Ja, mein Geliebter,” Lana answered in flawless German, her voice ringing with pure happiness. “Ich liebe dich.” (“Yes, my beloved. I love you.”)

Victor’s face broke into a radiant smile. He slid the ring onto her finger, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her deeply under the warm, golden sunlight as the crowd on the terrace erupted into joyful applause and cheers.
