Chapter 3 - The Siege at IroncladBy Thursday, the Sterling family’s panic had turned into outright warfare.

When legal avenues failed, people like Evelyn Sterling didn't surrender—they escalated.
Maya had spent forty-eight hours filing an emergency restraining order, an annulment petition based on fraud and physical duress, and an emergency freeze on all joint financial accounts. The local press had caught wind of the story, and headlines were already tearing through the city's financial district:
STERLING EMPIRE ON THE BRINK: HEIR ACCUSED OF DOMESTIC EXTORTION ATTEMPT
I was sitting in the gym’s ring, wrapping my hands with fresh white cloth, preparing for a heavy bag workout to clear the rage from my blood. Coach Marcus was near the front entrance, repairing a broken zipper on a heavy canvas speed bag, while two of our young scholarship boxers—twin brothers named Leo and Sam—were sweeping the mats.
Suddenly, the front glass doors didn't just open—they were kicked off their hinges with a deafening crash.
Four large men in dark tactical jackets stepped into the gym. They weren't police officers, and they certainly weren't process servers. They had the thick necks, scarred knuckles, and cold, dead eyes of hired muscle. Leading them was a man named Viktor—a disgraced former heavyweight enforcement officer for private security firms who was known in the underground circuit for doing dirty work for wealthy clients.
Behind the four goons stepped Evelyn Sterling herself, accompanied by a greasy-looking man in an ill-fitting suit holding a leather briefcase.
"Search the office," Evelyn ordered, pointing her gloved hand toward the back room. "Find the original hard drives, the server backups, and any documents related to the Vance estate. Destroy everything."
"Hey!" Coach Marcus barked, stepping forward with his heavy iron wrench raised. "Who the hell do you think you are? Get out of my gym!"
Viktor didn't even hesitate. He stepped forward and delivered a heavy, brutal side-kick straight to Marcus’s chest.
The blow caught the older man off guard, sending Marcus crashing backward into a row of weight racks. Metal plates clattered violently across the floor as Marcus gasped for air, clutching his ribs.
"Coach!" Leo and Sam yelled, dropping their brooms and rushing forward.
"Stay back!" I roared, vaulting over the top rope of the ring and landing lightly on the concrete floor.
My heart was pounding, but it wasn't fear—it was a white-hot, blinding fury. Evelyn had brought violence into my sanctuary. She had laid hands on Marcus.
"Evelyn," I said, stepping between the four goons and my fallen coach, my wrapped hands clenched into tight fists. "You really are as stupid as your son."
"You have twenty seconds to hand over the master server keys, Rhea," Evelyn said, her voice trembling with an unhinged, desperate rage. "Julian Drake is foreclosing on the Grandview project at midnight. My company is dying because of your little video! Give me the drive, or my boys will break every bone in your hands so you never hit anything again!"
"Try it," I said quietly.
Viktor sneered, stepping forward and cracking his massive knuckles. He was at least six-foot-four and weighed two hundred and fifty pounds. He clearly thought a female boxer was nothing more than a novelty.
"Grab her," Viktor ordered the two men beside him.
The first goon lunged forward, reaching for my shoulder with a wide, sloppy grab.
I didn't waste time with formal ring etiquette. I slipped under his reach, drove my right knee straight into his groin, and as he doubled over in agony, I brought a crushing left hook straight into his jaw. The crack echoed like a gunshot through the high-ceilinged gym. The man went limp before he hit the rubber mats.
The second goon pulled a collapsible steel baton from his belt and swung it wildly at my head.
I ducked beneath the whistling metal, stepped inside his guard, and drove a lightning-fast combination—stomach, ribs, chin—into his exposed body. He stumbled backward, coughing blood, his baton clattering harmlessly onto the floor.
Viktor’s eyes widened in momentary shock, but his brute instincts took over. He charged like a runaway bull, swinging a massive right haymaker designed to take my head off.
I didn't try to block a man his size. I used my footwork.
I side-stepped with catlike speed, letting his momentum carry him past me. As he overextended, I leaped slightly, driving a flying elbow directly into the side of his neck. The impact hit the vagus nerve. Viktor froze, his eyes rolling back into his head, before he crashed face-first onto the canvas ring apron, unconscious.
The fourth goon looked at his three downed comrades, then looked at me standing over them, untouched, my white hand wraps gleaming under the fluorescent lights.
He slowly dropped his hands, took three steps backward, and ran out the shattered front doors into the street.
The greasy lawyer in the ill-fitting suit dropped his briefcase, his face ghostly white, and backed into the corner near the water cooler, raising his hands in surrender.
Evelyn stood alone in the center of the gym.
Her immaculate suit was disheveled, her hair falling out of its tight bun, her eyes wide with total, paralyzing terror. She looked at me as I slowly walked toward her, my footsteps echoing against the concrete.
"You're... you're a monster," she whispered, backing up until her spine hit the heavy speed-bag frame.
"No, Evelyn," I said, stopping six inches from her face. I could smell her expensive perfume mixed with the metallic tang of sweat and fear. "I’m a fighter. You thought because I was grieving my father, I was weak. You thought because I loved your son, I was blind. But you forgot one simple rule."
I raised one wrapped hand and tapped her lightly on the shoulder, making her flinch violently.
"In this ring," I whispered, "we don't bow to bullies. We knock them out."
Sirens suddenly wailed in the distance, getting louder with every passing second.
Leo had called the police the moment the glass shattered. Within two minutes, three patrol cars pulled up outside, their red and blue lights flashing against the gym's brick facade.
Officers poured through the broken doors with weapons drawn, taking in the scene: three giant enforcers unconscious on the floor, a terrified lawyer cowering in the corner, and Evelyn Sterling standing trapped against a punch-bag while I stood over her unharmed.
Deputy Miller walked in last. He looked at Viktor’s giant body laid out on the floor, then looked at me, letting out a heavy, tired sigh.
"Mrs. Vance-Sterling," Miller said, shaking his head with a faint, respectful smirk. "Do I even need to ask who started this one?"
"She brought them here to destroy evidence, Officer," I said calmly, stepping back. "And to assault my team."
Deputy Miller turned to his officers. "Handcuff all of them. Including Mrs. Sterling. Attempted burglary, felony assault, and witness intimidation."
As the steel cuffs clicked around Evelyn’s wrists, she turned her head, screaming at me as the officers dragged her toward the door.
"This isn't over, Rhea! My son still has rights! The estate papers were filed! You can't erase him!"
I walked over to Coach Marcus, helping him up onto a wooden bench and handing him an ice pack for his ribs.
May you like
"You okay, Coach?" I asked softly.
Marcus spat a tiny drop of blood onto the floor, then looked up at me with eyes full of immense pride. "I'm fine, kid. But you... you need to finish this. Go to the boardroom tomorrow. End the Sterling name once and for all."
