Chapter 6 - A New Dawn at Harbor PointSix months later, the spring sun blazed brilliantly across Harbor Point, painting the manicured lawns and towering iron gates of the newly restored Vance-Cole estate in brilliant shades of emerald and gold.

The sprawling neoclassical mansion—once a fortress of cold corporate intimidation under Victor’s rule—was now filled with the bright, chaotic, beautiful sounds of life.
Out on the expansive stone veranda overlooking the sparkling blue waters of the lake, a white wooden bassinet sat draped in delicate lace. Inside slept a newborn baby girl, her tiny chest rising and falling in rhythmic peace, crowned with a soft tuft of dark hair and holding her mother’s exact hazel eyes.
Claire stood leaning against the stone balustrade, wearing a flowing summer sundress, the warm breeze catching her golden hair.
Footsteps approached from behind, and a pair of strong, familiar arms wrapped around her waist, resting gently over her heart.
“She’s finally sleeping,” Ethan murmured against her neck, a rare, genuine smile playing across his lips. “Which means we have approximately twenty minutes of absolute silence before she decides to conquer the world.”
Claire laughed softly, leaning back into his embrace. “She’s your daughter, Ethan. Conquering the world is probably on her morning schedule.”
“Well,” Ethan said, turning her around so she was facing him, his hands resting securely on her hips, his dark eyes shining with adoration. “If she inherits your courage and her mother’s resilience, she won’t need an empire. She’ll build her own.”
From inside the grand parlor, the gentle, cheerful chimes of a grandfather clock rang out, marking the noon hour.
A low, happy gurgle echoed from the bassinet.
Ethan and Claire exchanged a warm, knowing glance. The shadows of the past—the frozen Chicago nights, the shattered glass in the hotel courtyard, the fear of running from ghosts—were gone, burned away by truth, protected by unwavering loyalty, and sealed by a love that nothing in this world could ever break.
Ethan leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to Claire’s lips before whispering against her mouth, “Welcome home, Claire.”

She smiled, resting her hand over his heart.
“I’m already home.”
