Chapter 6 - The Moretti Lineage

The gala had ended, and the guests had departed into the warm summer night. The grand pavilion was quiet, the glass walls reflecting the gentle moonlight over the calm harbor waters.
Elena and I stood on the open-air observation deck, looking out over the city that our family had helped save from the grip of corrupt predators. The air was clean, carrying the scent of the sea and the promise of a peaceful tomorrow.
She leaned her head lightly against my shoulder, her fingers gently tracing the edges of the silver pendant at her chest.
"He told me I was useless without him, Adrian," she whispered, her voice drifting out into the quiet night. "He spent two years trying to convince me that I was completely alone in the world."
I wrapped my arm around her shoulders, pulling her close, the same way I had done in that dark, ruined warehouse six months ago. But this time, there was no blood, no cold, and no ropes. Only the solid, unyielding foundation of our shared heritage.
"An arrogant man will always try to isolate what he cannot control, little star," I said softly, looking out at the city lights. "Victor thought he could steal your light because he didn't understand where it came from. He didn't realize that your strength wasn't tied to his money, or his company, or his permission."
Elena looked up at me, a brilliant, sharp smile spreading across her face—a smile that held the absolute, triumphant certainty of a woman who had fully reclaimed her destiny.

"I know that now, Adrian," she said, her voice clear and resonant. "He thought he could break my bloodline. But he forgot that the Moretti blood doesn't wash away in the rain. We don't just survive the dark, big brother. We own it."
I lifted my glass in a silent, final toast to the future, to the freedom we had fought for and won. And as the city lights continued to twinkle below us, I knew that no shadow would ever dare to touch my blood again.
