Chapter 6 - A Legacy of LoveTwo years later.

The Vance estate was bathed in the warm, golden light of a perfect midsummer afternoon.
The grand gardens were decorated with white silk ribbons, arches of blooming jasmine, and long banquet tables laden with exquisite food, fine wine, and silver centerpieces.
Today was the third birthday of Elena and Sofia Vance.
Laughter echoed across the manicured lawns. Children belonging to the estate staff and trusted Vance family associates were running around, playing tag near the marble fountain, while Titan, the massive German Shepherd, trotted contentedly behind them, acting as an affectionate nanny.
Sitting at a long wooden table beneath the shade of an old oak tree were Luca Moretti, Marcus, and Viktor Vance.
Luca was impeccably dressed as always, sipping an iced tea and smiling softly as he watched two-year-old Sofia try to balance a small plastic crown on Viktor’s head. Viktor, the fearsome enforcer whose name used to make rival mobsters tremble, sat completely still, allowing the tiny girl to adjust his crown, his face split into a wide, soft smile.
“Careful, Uncle Viktor,” Marcus chuckled, taking a sip of his beer. “If the families in the south see you wearing a princess crown, your reputation is finished.”
“Let them see,” Viktor laughed, gently bopping Sofia’s nose, making her squeal with delight. “I’d like to see any of those bastards try to take this crown off me.”
Near the garden pavilion, Elias stood watching his family.
He wore a tailored linen shirt, relaxed trousers, and no shoes, his feet resting on the cool grass. He looked healthy, relaxed, and deeply at peace. The dark shadow that had once hung over his features for twenty years was gone, replaced by a quiet, profound contentment.
Ara walked up beside him, carrying two small plates of strawberry birthday cake.
She looked breathtaking in a simple white sun-dress, her skin glowing in the summer warmth, her dark hair pinned back with a pearl clip.
“You’re standing out here alone again, Boss,” Ara teased softly, nudging his hip with hers.
Elias wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close against his side, resting his chin against her hair as they watched their daughters.
Across the lawn, Elena was proudly showing Luca a butterfly she had caught in a plastic jar, while Sofia was now convincing Viktor to join her in a tea party at a tiny wooden table.
“I was just thinking,” Elias murmured softly into her hair.
“About what?”
“About the night I found you,” Elias said, his voice dropping into that low, warm rumble that Ara loved so much. “I was twenty-two years into a life I thought was complete. I thought power was about how many men obeyed my commands, how much money sat in my vaults, and how many enemies feared my name.”
He looked down at Ara, his dark eyes brimming with an emotion so deep, so pure, that it brought a warm flush to her cheeks.
“I was an idiot,” Elias admitted with a soft chuckle. “True power... true wealth... is sitting right here on this grass.”
Ara smiled, leaning up on her tiptoes to press a sweet, tender kiss to his lips.
“You gave us everything, Elias,” she whispered against his mouth. “You gave my daughters a father who adores them. You gave me a husband who respects me. You gave us a home where we never have to be afraid again.”
“No, Ara,” Elias corrected gently, framing her face with his large, warm hands. “You gave me a life.”
Before they could kiss again, two tiny voices shouted in unison from the lawn:
“DADDY! MOMMY! CAKE TIME!”
Elena and Sofia came sprinting across the grass, their little dresses fluttering in the summer breeze, their dark hazel eyes shining with absolute, unfiltered joy.
Elias laughed—a rich, genuine sound that echoed across the sunny garden. He dropped to one knee, opening his arms wide.
Both girls launched themselves into his chest, giggling wildly as Elias scooped them both up into his arms, lifting them high into the air as Ara wrapped her arms around all three of them.
The sun began to set over the western ridge, casting a golden, heavenly glow over the Vance estate.
The nightmare was over. The scars remained, but they were no longer marks of pain—they were proof of endurance, of triumph, and of a love that had conquered the darkest shadows of the world.
May you like
And as the night fell, bringing with it not a cold blizzard, but a warm, starry sky, Elias Vance held his wife and daughters tight against his heart, knowing that as long as they were together, they would live in the light forever.
