Chapter 4 - The EscapeThe hospital was becoming a prison. Caleb could see the Ashford security teams blocking the exits, and the hospital administration, swayed by a multi-million-dollar endowment, was backing away.

"We leave now," Caleb said.

He didn't use the main exits. He took Vivian and Grace through the labyrinth of the basement, past the laundry chutes and the loading docks. His car was parked in the furthest corner of the employee lot—a beat-up sedan that wouldn't draw the attention of the Ashford security detail.

As they reached the vehicle, a black SUV roared around the corner, its headlights blinding them.

"Get in!" Caleb yelled, pushing Grace into the backseat.

He didn't have time to argue. He slammed the sedan into reverse, tires screeching against the asphalt, and rammed the side of the SUV, creating just enough of a gap to dart out onto the main road.

"They won't stop," Vivian whispered from the passenger seat, her eyes fixed on the rearview mirror. "They have the police in their pocket. They have everyone."

"Not everyone," Caleb said, his jaw set. "I have the data. And the data is going to the Feds."
