Chapter 6 - A New Dawn and Absolute FreedomSpring arrived in the city with a crisp, cleansing breeze that swept away the remnants of the bitter winter.

Six months after that infamous Christmas dinner, the legal dust had completely settled. The federal indictments were locked in, the court judgments were fully executed, and my name was untainted, powerful, and entirely sovereign.

I stood on the wraparound balcony of my newly purchased penthouse overlooking the river, watching the sunlight dance across the water. The wind caught my hair—untouched, free, and falling softly over my shoulders without a single trace of fear or hesitation.

My phone rested on the glass patio table. It didn't buzz with frantic messages from David anymore. Those numbers were blocked, replaced instead by notifications from international corporate boards inviting me to keynote fraud-prevention conferences around the globe.

Behind me, the glass door slid open softly, and Victoria stepped out onto the balcony holding a fresh cup of green tea.

“You’ve got a call from the New York branch,” Victoria smiled, handing me the mug. “They want you to head the transnational asset recovery division starting next month.”

I took a sip of the warm tea, looking out at the endless horizon.

“Tell them I accept,” I said calmly.

The nightmare of my marriage felt like a lifetime away. My heart still carried the scars of betrayal, but deep within my chest, an unshakeable, fierce strength had taken root. I hadn't just survived their cruelty; I had dismantled their entire corrupt legacy piece by piece, proving once and for all that no matter how powerful or manipulative people think they are, no one ever stays above the law when you have the intelligence, the records, and the courage to make them answer for every single stolen dollar.
