Chapter 5 - The Gift of the DynastySix months later.

The spring sun beat down warmly over the rolling green hills of the Valenti estate in Lake Forest. The heavy shadows that had once hung over the mansion were gone, replaced by blooming white roses, manicured lawns, and the sweet sound of children’s laughter.
Near the marble fountain in the central courtyard, eight-year-old Nora Bennett was sitting at a small white iron table, happily coloring in a large drawing book while her mother, Clara, served fresh iced tea to the guests.
Luca sat on the covered stone patio, wearing a relaxed white linen shirt and dark trousers, reviewing shipping documents on his tablet. Beside him sat Leo Marcelli, who was now a second-year business management student at Northwestern, serving as a summer intern for the Valenti Group’s legitimate logistics arm.
“The port accounts in Gary are fully audited, Luca,” Leo reported proudly, handing his brother-in-law a clean binder. “Zero illegal activity, zero Moretti interference. Revenue is up twenty percent.”
Luca looked over the binder, offering his young brother-in-law a warm, approving smile. “You’ve done exceptional work, Leo. Your father would be very proud of you.”
Leo beamed, taking a sip of his iced tea. “I couldn't have done it without the family backing me.”
The French terrace doors opened softly.
Elena stepped out into the afternoon sunlight. She wore a breathtaking summer dress of soft yellow silk that draped gracefully over her figure—a figure that now showed a beautiful, distinct six-month baby bump.
Luca stood up instantly, dropping his tablet onto the table, walking over to meet her halfway across the terrace. He wrapped his arms gently around her waist, pulling her close against his chest, kissing her forehead with profound tenderness.
“You should be resting, mia cara,” Luca murmured softly into her hair. “The doctor said you need to stay off your feet in the afternoons.”
“The doctor doesn't know how boring sitting in bed can be, Luca,” Elena laughed, her hazel eyes sparkling with health and happiness as she rested her hands over her belly. “Besides, your daughter was kicking so hard she wouldn't let me nap.”
Luca dropped to one knee right there on the stone terrace, laying his palm flat against her dress, feeling a firm, energetic kick against his palm. A look of pure, reverent awe washed over his dark face.
“She’s going to be as fierce as her mother,” Luca whispered, looking up at his wife with endless love.
“And as stubborn as her father,” Elena countered playfully, running her fingers through his dark hair.
Luca stood up, taking her hand and guiding her toward the small table where little Nora was coloring.
Nora looked up from her drawing, her wide eyes bright with joy. “Look, Miss Elena! I drew a picture of the baby!”
Elena leaned down, looking at the colorful drawing of a little girl wearing a golden crown standing beside a big, friendly lion.
“It’s beautiful, Nora,” Elena smiled warmly, reaching out to pat the little girl’s cheek. “You know... if it weren't for you... if you hadn't whispered to Luca about that picture behind his desk... none of us would be standing here today.”
Clara Reyes stepped forward, tears filling her eyes as she looked at the Don and his wife. “We are so grateful to you, Mr. Valenti. For giving us a home, for paying for Nora’s private school... we can never repay you.”

Luca looked at Clara, then at little Nora, and finally back at his radiant wife.
“You already repaid me, Clara,” Luca said softly, his voice rich with genuine emotion. “You saved my wife. You saved my family. You will always have a seat at the Valenti table.”
