Chapter 5 - The Fall of the Moretti Dynasty

Over the next two months, the city of New York witnessed the total, systematic dismantling of the Moretti crime syndicate.

With Don Vincent dead and Isabella facing a lifetime in federal prison on organized crime charges, the remaining Moretti lieutenants surrendered without firing a single shot. Declan absorbed their legitimate shipping assets, purged the corrupt elements, and officially ended the syndicate war that had threatened the Five Families for decades.

Under Aria’s influence, Declan began transitioning the Rossi empire out of dark illegal enterprises, shifting billions of dollars into legitimate international maritime transport, real estate development, and charitable foundations aimed at supporting missing persons and victims of domestic abuse.

The dark underworld boss was becoming a legitimate titan of global industry—a transformation that earned him the respect of both the street and the highest halls of government.

On a warm, golden afternoon in late May, the grand gardens of the Rossi estate in Westchester were transformed into a paradise of white roses, silver silk ribbons, and arching floral bowers.

The estate’s lawn sloped down toward the sparkling waters of the Hudson River.

Two hundred guests filled the white chairs arranged across the grass—allied syndicate leaders, legitimate business partners, high-society figures, and the old staff members from the restaurant where Aria had once worked, whom she had personally invited as honored guests.

At the altar, standing beneath a grand bower of blooming white peonies, stood Declan Rossi.

He looked impossibly handsome in an impeccably tailored black tuxedo, a white rose pinned to his lapel. His hair was styled neatly, and his sharp face—once permanently hardened by grief and ruthless ambition—was softened by an undeniable radiance of pure, expectant joy.

Beside him stood Cassian, wearing a sharp suit, acting as his best man.

The string quartet began to play a soft, romantic melody that floated across the gentle breeze.

The crowd stood up.

Aria appeared at the top of the marble terrace steps.

Declan’s breath caught in his throat. His hands trembled slightly as he looked at her, his dark eyes filling with a rare, devastating emotion.

She was a vision of breathtaking elegance.

Aria wore a custom ivory lace gown designed with delicate long sleeves, a fitted bodice that accentuated her graceful waist, and a long, dramatic train that swept across the green grass like liquid pearls. Her dark hair was half-pinned back in soft, regal curls, crowned with a delicate tiara of small, brilliant diamonds.

In her hands, she carried a simple bouquet of white roses and lavender.

She did not look like a woman who had once hid behind low-slung baseball caps or bled on a restaurant floor.

She was a Queen reclaiming her throne.

As she walked down the aisle toward him, her hazel eyes never left Declan’s face. Every step she took seemed to erase four years of pain, coldness, and separation, replacing them with a bright, luminous future.

When she reached the altar, Declan stepped forward, taking her hand in his with exquisite care. He lifted her knuckles to his lips, pressing a reverent kiss against the thin white scar where her injury had healed.

“You are the most beautiful sight in God’s creation,” Declan whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

“And you are my entire life,” Aria replied softly, her eyes shining with tears of pure happiness.

The priest stepped forward, his voice echoing warmly across the sunlit garden.

“We are gathered here today,” the priest began, “not merely to join two souls, but to celebrate a love that conquered the darkest depths of grief, survived the storms of betrayal, and emerged unbroken.”

The vows were simple, yet carried the weight of an eternal covenant.

When Declan reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring—a stunning, flawless five-carat oval diamond flanked by black diamonds from the Rossi vault—his hands were completely steady.

He slid the ring onto her finger, looking deep into her eyes.

“Aria,” Declan said, his deep voice carrying across the silent crowd with absolute conviction. “Four years ago, I thought my world had ended in darkness. You came back to me like a sunrise. I vow to protect you, honor you, and love you through every storm, every battle, and every day of our lives. My heart, my empire, and my soul belong to you forever.”

Aria slipped the matching platinum band onto his finger, tears of joy spilling over her cheeks.

“Declan,” she whispered, her voice trembling with devotion. “You held my memory when the world tried to erase me. You fought for me when I had no strength left. I give you my love, my trust, and my life, today and for all eternity.”

“By the power vested in me,” the priest declared, a wide smile breaking across his face, “I now pronounce you husband and wife once again. Don Declan, you may kiss your Donna.”

Declan didn't hesitate for a single second.

He wrapped his powerful arms around Aria’s waist, pulling her flush against his chest, and dipped her slightly as his lips met hers in a deep, passionate, breathtaking kiss that brought the entire crowd to their feet in thunderous applause.

Cheers, whistles, and happy tears echoed across the sunlit estate as Declan lifted her back up, pulling her close against his heart, his face lit up by a radiant, handsome smile that transformed him completely.

Aria threw her arms around his neck, laughing happily as the white rose petals rained down upon them from the sky.
