Chapter 6 - A Sweet Ending

The gala was a massive success. Lily’s face was on every magazine cover in the city by the following morning.
But the real ending happened a week later.
Lily sat in her new apartment—a sun-drenched space overlooking the park. She was working on her next project: a line of high-end, artisan confections. She wasn't just a model; she was becoming a businesswoman.
Victor knocked on the door. He wasn't wearing a suit. He was wearing jeans and a sweater, looking like a man who finally had time to breathe.
"The Whitakers?" Lily asked.
"They’ve been served with a restraining order and a lawsuit for exploitation," Victor said, sitting on the sofa. "They won’t be bothering you again."
Lily nodded, a sense of peace washing over her. "Thank you, Victor. For everything."
"I didn't do anything," Victor said, taking her hand. "You walked off that sidewalk all on your own. I just happened to be driving by."
He leaned in, and for the first time, it wasn't about contracts or cameras. It was about the two of them. Lily realized then that she hadn't just found a career; she had found someone who saw her when the rest of the world walked by.
She picked up a box of her new caramels—the recipe she had perfected in the Whitaker kitchen—and opened it. She held one out to Victor.
"Taste it," she said.
He took a bite, closing his eyes. "It’s better than the ones on Michigan Avenue."
Lily smiled, a genuine, radiant smile. "That’s because these weren't made to survive," she said. "These were made to celebrate."

She had finally come home, not to a house where she was a debt, but to a life where she was the owner. And it was, in every sense of the word, sweet.
Following up: Now that Lily has reclaimed her life and found success on her own terms, what kind of project—philanthropic or business-related—would you like to see her tackle next, perhaps to help other girls in similar positions?
