Chapter 5 - The Fall of the House of Solís

The months that followed the takeover were a slow, public execution of Raúl Solís’s pride and lifestyle.
Without access to the corporate accounts of 'Refacciones Solís', his personal finances completely collapsed within a matter of weeks. The luxury apartment in Narvarte, which he had promised to remodel for Mónica, was protected by a temporary injunction filed by Licenciado Bernardo. Since the property deed was solely in Doña Ernestina’s name, Raúl was served with an official eviction notice.
Claudia did not allow him to take a single piece of furniture. Every item inside that apartment had been purchased with Doña Ernestina’s pension or company dividends. Raúl and Mónica were forced to leave the building carrying their personal clothes in cheap suitcases, under the watchful eyes of the same private security guards who had locked them out of the warehouse.
Mónica’s love, which had been sustained entirely by the scent of expensive dinners and designer boutique shopping sprees, vanished the moment the luxury SUV was repossessed. Within forty-eight hours of their eviction from the Narvarte apartment, she packed her bags while Raúl was out begging his former business associates for a loan, leaving a brief, contemptuous note on the bed of the cheap motel room they had rented:
“I didn't sign up to live in a dump with a man who can't even afford a decent meal. Don't call me again.”
Raúl was left entirely alone. He tried to file a lawsuit to contest his mother's mental capacity, but no lawyer in Mexico City would take the case. The forensic video evidence provided by Notary Public Bernardo Gomez was ironclad, and the medical community stood firmly behind Claudia’s administration. Furthermore, Don Jorge, the head accountant, discovered that Raúl had embezzled over three million pesos from the company's reserve funds over the past year to fund his gambling habits and buy gifts for Mónica.
Armed with this data, Claudia filed a criminal complaint for corporate fraud. To avoid prison time, Raúl was forced to sign a total waiver of any future inheritance rights regarding 'Refacciones Solís' and his mother's properties. He was stripped of everything—his status, his wealth, his vehicles, and his family. He was forced to move into a tiny, damp room in a boarding house near the northern bus terminal, working twelve-hour shifts as a line mechanic in a dirty, independent repair shop, his hands constantly stained with grease, earning less than the minimum wage he used to pay his delivery boys.
Meanwhile, under Claudia’s brilliant leadership, 'Refacciones Solís' experienced a massive renaissance. Using her training as a nursing assistant and her inherent organizational skills, she restructured the logistics department, paid off the pending supplier debts, and opened two new distribution centers in Puebla and Querétaro. The employees, who had grown to despise Raúl’s arrogant, volatile management style, worked with a renewed sense of loyalty, knowing that the company was now run by a woman who treated them with dignity and respect.

But Claudia’s greatest triumph was not commercial. It was domestic.
Using the profits from the new distribution centers, she purchased a beautiful, sunlit single-story house in the quiet, green neighborhood of Coyoacán. The house was designed entirely around Doña Ernestina’s medical needs, featuring wide hallways, large windows overlooking a central garden filled with lavender and white roses, and a state-of-the-art physical therapy room.
