Chapter 6 - THE GOLDEN DAWNThree months later, the spring sun washed over the sprawling stone terrace of Dante’s restored estate in upstate New York, turning the manicured lawns into a vibrant sea of green and blooming wildflowers.

In the center of the terrace, beneath a wrought-iron pergola, a small, intimate gathering of close friends and trusted allies celebrated a very different kind of occasion. There were no high-society socialites, no corporate moguls, and no armed guards standing watch with cold expressions.
At the head of the stone patio, wearing a simple, elegant ivory sundress, Ruby stood beside Dante, who wore an open-collared linen shirt, looking more at peace than he had in his entire life.
And right between them, sitting proudly on a velvet cushion with a red silk bow tied around his collar, was Milo.
The golden retriever panted happily, his tail thumping against the stone floor as a federal judge—now leading the newly formed anti-corruption task force—signed the final documentation sealing the dismantling of the Moretti syndicate once and for all.
"Well," the judge smiled, handing the leather-bound folder to Dante. "Marcus Vance is facing consecutive life sentences, the stolen art has been successfully returned to European museums, and your shipping lanes are completely clean, Mr. Marchetti. Or should I say... Mr. and Mrs. Marchetti?"
Dante slipped a heavy, custom-designed gold band onto Ruby’s finger, his dark eyes shining with quiet, profound emotion.
"Mr. and Mrs. Marchetti," Dante repeated, pulling Ruby close against his side.
Ruby smiled, looking out over the sunlit valley, thinking back to that rainy midnight in Manhattan when an open car window and a runaway rescue dog had completely upended her quiet, invisible life.
May you like
"You know," Ruby whispered, leaning her head against Dante’s shoulder as Milo let out a contented yawn and rested his head on their feet. "I still think Milo planned the whole thing."
Dante laughed, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing the top of her head. "Of course he did, my love. Some dogs don't just chase cars. They chase destinies."
