Chapter 5 - The Reckoning at the Bellamy EstateAt 2:00 AM, the storm over Gold Coast peaked with sharp flashes of lightning that illuminated the grand limestone facade of the Bellamy Estate.

Inside the dark, vacant library, Victoria Bellamy sat behind the heavy executive desk, clutching a small leather duffel bag. Her hands were shaking violently. Her expensive blue suit was crumpled, her hair disheveled. Across the room, two large men in dark raincoats belonging to the Moretti syndicate were inspecting the heavy steel door of the wall safe, using an electronic decrypter that Victoria had purchased with family funds.

“Hurry up!” Victoria hissed, her voice shrill with panic. “Dante’s security detail sweeps the perimeter every thirty minutes! If they catch you—”

“Relax, lady,” one of the men growled without looking back. “You gave us the master security codes. The cameras outside are on a four-minute loop. Just give us the safe combination and take your cash.”

Victoria checked her watch. In two hours, a private helicopter was scheduled to pick her up from a private airfield in Gary, Indiana, flying her straight to a non-extradition island in the Caribbean. She would leave behind the scandal, leave behind Dante, and live out her remaining years in luxury.

Suddenly, the heavy glass windows behind the library desk shattered inward in a deafening spray of safety glass!

Flashbang grenades detonated inside the room with blinding white light and thunderous booms!

“POLICE! FBI! DON’T MOVE! DOWN ON THE GROUND!”

Dozens of heavily armed SWAT officers poured through the windows and shattered doors, laser sights cutting through the smoke. The two Moretti mercenaries dropped to their knees immediately, raising their hands in surrender.

Victoria screamed, falling off her chair onto the carpet, clutching her head in terror. “Don’t shoot! I’m Victoria Bellamy! I live here! I am the matriarch of this estate!”

“You were, Victoria,” a calm, icy voice called out from the doorway.

The smoke cleared slightly.

Dante Bellamy stepped through the ruined oak doorway, flanked by Federal Prosecutor Arthur Pendelton and two senior FBI agents. Behind them stood three local television news crews, their high-powered floodlights turning the dark library as bright as noon.

Victoria pulled herself up against the mahogany desk, her face streaked with soot and tears. She looked at the flashing cameras, then at the federal agents, and finally at Dante.

“Dante!” she sobbed, holding out her trembling hands. “Thank God you’re here! These men... they broke in! They forced me to give them the codes! I was trying to protect your father’s safe!”

Federal Prosecutor Pendelton stepped forward, pulling a thick warrant from his coat.

“Mrs. Victoria Bellamy,” Pendelton announced, his voice amplified by the room’s echo. “You are under arrest for grand embezzlement, corporate wire fraud, criminal conspiracy with an organized crime syndicate, and child endangerment.”

“No!” Victoria shrieked, backing away until she hit the wall. “You can’t arrest me! I am a Bellamy!”

“Not anymore,” Dante said softly, stepping closer as the FBI agents clamped heavy steel handcuffs around her manicured wrists. “The family board voted two hours ago to strip you of the Bellamy name, your foundation position, and all trust rights. You are a criminal, Victoria. Nothing more.”

The news cameras zoomed in on her face—capturing every drop of sweat, every line of terror, and the complete destruction of her false aristocratic facade.

As the agents dragged her past Dante toward the grand front doors, where police cruisers flashed red and blue light across the wet driveway, Victoria looked back at him with pure, unadulterated venom.

“I built this family’s prestige!” she screamed, her voice echoing into the rainy night. “You traded it for a street girl and a bastard!”

Dante did not flinch. He adjusted his silver cuffs, looking at her with quiet, unshakeable pride.

“No, Victoria,” Dante replied, his voice carried clearly over the reporters' shouting voices. “I traded your lies for my true family. And they are worth more than everything you ever pretended to be.”
