The hospital board meeting was short, brutal, and public.
Preston stood before the disciplinary committee, his reputation hanging by a thread. He tried to argue that it was a clinical judgment call, but Elena walked into the room. She was frail, using a cane, but she was radiant with a strength he could never touch.
She laid out the facts. The disregard for her consent. The evidence of Khloeâs sabotage. The pattern of gaslighting that had defined their marriage.
