Sophia’s quiet rebellion grew stronger. She met with lawyers and private investigators. She reconnected with old friends and built alliances within the extended family who had also suffered under Victoria’s tyranny.
Meanwhile, Victoria grew bolder. She convinced Richard that Sophia was mentally unstable and was trying to destroy the family. The tension in the mansion became suffocating.
One evening, during a charity gala at the estate, Victoria publicly insulted Sophia in front of two hundred guests. Sophia stood there, humiliated once again, but this time she didn’t cry. Her eyes burned with cold determination.
