Chapter 6 - The Legacy of Olive TreesOne year later.

The summer sun beamed brightly over the hills of western Sicily. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming orange blossoms, sea salt, and wild rosemary.
The ancient Rossellini estate, fully restored to its former glory with white limestone terraces, cascading fountains, and sprawling olive groves, bustled with life and music.
Laughter and acoustic guitar melodies floated through the warm breeze as hundreds of guests—local villagers, international business partners, and family friends—dined at long wooden tables set beneath the shade of the olive trees.
Standing on the high stone terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea was Sophia Rossellini.
She wore a breathtaking lace gown of soft ivory, her dark hair styled in elegant braids woven with fresh white jasmine flowers. On her hand, alongside her father's gold signet ring, sparkled a magnificent diamond wedding band.
She was no longer hiding. She was whole.
A pair of strong arms wrapped securely around her waist from behind, pulling her back against a broad, solid chest.
Lorenzo leaned down, pressing a soft kiss against the curve of her neck. He wore a tailored linen suit, looking relaxed, happy, and deeply at peace—a stark contrast to the burdened, cold man he had been in New York.
"What are you thinking about, my love?" Lorenzo asked softly, resting his chin on her shoulder as they watched the waves crash against the golden cliffs below.
Sophia smiled, leaning her head back against his chest. "I was thinking about Levetta. About Table Four."
Lorenzo let out a low, rich laugh, hugging her tighter. "I still get cold sweats thinking about how close I came to letting Matteo insult you that night. If you hadn't spoken up..."
"If I hadn't spoken up, you would still be drinking overpriced Masseto in Manhattan, and I would still be worrying about rent in Queens," Sophia teased gently, turning in his arms to face him.
"You saved me, Sophia," Lorenzo said, his voice dropping into a serious, heartfelt whisper as he looked into her hazel eyes. "You gave me a life worth living. An empire means nothing without the right person to share it with."
"We built something better than an empire, Lorenzo," Sophia replied, placing her hands gently against his cheeks. "We built a home."
Down on the lawn below, Matteo Giordano—now the head of security for the estate—was busily entertaining a group of local children, showing them magic tricks with a gold coin, his rough face split into a wide, happy grin. Beside him, Silvio Conti was sharing a laugh with old Don Lucchese over glasses of vintage wine.
"Speaking of our home," Lorenzo smiled, his eyes sparkling with warmth, "the doctor from Palermo left a message while you were dressing."
Sophia’s heart skipped a beat. She looked up at him, her eyes wide with anticipation. "And?"
Lorenzo gently placed his large, warm hand over her stomach, where a tiny, miraculous new life had just begun to grow.
"He confirmed it," Lorenzo whispered, his voice trembling with profound emotion. "In seven months, the Rossellini and Moretti lines become one. We're having a baby, Sophia."
Tears of pure, unadulterated joy filled Sophia’s eyes. She let out a breathless, happy laugh, throwing her arms around Lorenzo’s neck as he lifted her slightly off her feet, spinning her around on the sunny terrace.

He set her down gently, cupping her face in his hands, pulling her into a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their past, their present, and their eternal future.
The dark shadows of blood, betrayal, and grief were gone, swept away by the warm Mediterranean breeze. In their place stood a legacy of strength, honor, and an unbreakable love that would echo through the Sicilian hills for generations to come.
