Chapter 2 - THE FROZEN VAULTInside the mobile surgical unit parked just outside the resort gates, the hum of high-end diagnostic monitors provided a frantic, electronic rhythm against the howling wind. Claire sat on a heated bench, wrapped in a thermal blanket, her hands clutching a cup of black coffee that she couldn't stop spilling.

Through the clear partition, she watched two trauma specialists work on Mia, stripping away her frozen clothes, pumping warm saline into her veins, and monitoring her dangerously low core temperature.
The door of the mobile unit hissed open. Marcus stepped inside, shaking the melting snow from his overcoat. His face was set in a hard, predatory line.
"How is she?" Claire whispered, her voice cracking.
"Core temp is rising. She’s strong, Claire. She has our blood," Marcus said, pulling up a steel stool and sitting beside her. He took her shaking hands in his massive, calloused palms, steadying them instantly. "The medics say she’s going to make it. The baby... they’re monitoring closely, but early signs indicate no permanent trauma to the pregnancy."
Claire closed her eyes, a ragged sob escaping her chest as the sheer terror of the last hour finally crashed down over her. "They laughed, Marcus. Brad filmed it. They watched her sink into that black sludge like she was garbage."
"I know," Marcus said quietly. His eyes darkened with an intensity that made the sterile lights of the medical unit seem dim. "I’ve seen the live-stream archive. My tech teams pulled it off the internet before the platform could scrub it. Every frame, every laugh, every kick to her fingers."
"What do you want to do?" Claire asked, looking up.
"What I should have done seven years ago when you married into that degenerate family," Marcus replied evenly. "Brad Rainer thinks his father’s local real estate holdings make him untouchable. He thinks a few hundred thousand social media followers give him immunity. He doesn't realize that the company his father built—Harrisons Global—is entirely financed through my secondary credit lines."
Marcus stood up, tapping a key on his encrypted tablet. A holographic projection flickered to life in the center of the cabin, displaying a complex web of corporate assets, offshore bank accounts, and fraudulent land deeds tied directly to the Harrison family.
"In thirty minutes, our legal and financial division will execute a complete margin call on every single loan the Harrisons hold," Marcus explained, his voice devoid of emotion. "By morning, they won't just be broke. They’ll be facing criminal liquidation for asset laundering and tax evasion."
"And the brothers?" Claire asked, her amber eyes hardening. "The ones who pushed her? The ones who stamped on her fingers?"
Marcus offered a thin, razor-sharp smile. "They are currently being escorted to a secure federal holding facility in upstate New York. No bail. No phone calls. And absolutely no media presence."

Claire looked back through the glass at Mia, who was finally breathing in a steady, rhythmic pattern. The fear that had paralyzed her for years evaporated, replaced by a cold, righteous clarity.
"Let's begin," Claire said.
