Chapter 6 - The Unbroken VowThree months later, the private chapel of the Ricci estate was filled not with the cold terror of a forced arrangement, but with the warm, golden light of a late spring afternoon.

There were no federal agents, no syndicate hitmen, and no forged passports.

The ledger hidden in my mother’s sketchbook had been successfully decoded by Caterina and Dante’s legal team, handing federal prosecutors in both the US and Italy all the evidence needed to dismantle the Moretti syndicate once and for all. Viktor Moretti and his associates were currently sitting in maximum-security isolation cells awaiting trial, leaving Ricci Holdings as the undisputed, legitimate guardian of the Neapolitan shipping corridors.

And Emerson Fine Arts? It was fully restored, expanded, and now proudly co-owned by Dante and me, featuring a permanent wing dedicated to classical European antiquities.

I stood before the arched wooden doors of the chapel, wearing a custom-tailored silk-and-lace ivory gown that hugged my silhouette. My mother’s sketchbook rested safely in a vault upstairs, but its legacy lived on in the strength I now carried inside me.

The heavy oak doors swung open.

At the altar stood Dante. He wore a sharp black tuxedo, his dark hair neatly brushed, his pale eyes locked onto me with an expression of absolute, unfiltered adoration.

As I walked down the aisle on my own terms—no guards, no coercion, just my own deliberate steps—every head turned, but my eyes never left his.

When I reached the altar, Dante took my hands in his. His grip was warm, secure, and infinitely tender.

"You know," Dante whispered with a faint, knowing smirk, "technically, we're already married."

I smiled, my fingers interlocking with his as the priest began to read from the traditional liturgy.

"Yes," I whispered back, my voice steady and filled with a fierce, quiet joy. "To the law, maybe. But today... we do it right."

When the priest pronounced us husband and wife, Dante didn't wait for permission. He pulled me into his arms and kissed me—deep, passionate, and entirely unreserved—while the chapel erupted into cheers from our family and closest friends.

The mafia boss who had kidnapped me, forged my identity, and turned my world upside down hadn't stolen my freedom at all.

He had given me the strength to finally claim it.
