Chapter 4 - A New WorldProtection and PromisesThree days later.

The morning sun flooded through the floor-to-ceiling windows of a magnificent penthouse estate in Tribeca. The residence was warm, spacious, filled with soft light, plush cream furniture, and sweeping views of the Hudson River.
Della sat on a comfortable linen sofa, wrapped in a soft cashmere robe. Her bandaged right hand rested comfortably on a pillow, while her left hand gently stroked her pregnant belly.
Beside her, a high-end private obstetrician was finishing a routine check-up, packing her ultrasound equipment away with a bright smile.
"Everything is looking perfect, Ms. Marsh," the doctor said warmly. "Your stress levels have dropped significantly, the uterine contractions have completely stopped, and the baby is growing normally. Just keep resting and enjoying yourself."
"Thank you, Doctor," Della smiled softly.
As the doctor exited, escorted by a polite staff member, Julian walked into the living room. He had dropped his formal business suit for a comfortable dark sweater and slacks. In his hand, he carried a silver tray with a cup of warm chamomile tea and fresh fruit.
He set the tray on the coffee table beside her, sitting down on the adjoining armchair.
"How are you feeling today?" he asked softly.
"I feel like I'm living in someone else's dream," Della admitted, looking around the breathtaking penthouse. "Julian... this place is huge. My entire old apartment could fit inside this living room three times over."
"It's yours," Julian said plainly.
Della blinked, stunned. "What?"
"The deed to this penthouse was transferred to your name yesterday," Julian explained, taking a sip of his own coffee. "Along with a private trust fund that ensures you and your baby will never have to work another day in your lives unless you choose to. You will have a private driver, twenty-four-hour security, and top-tier medical care."
Della’s eyes welled with tears, but she shook her head, feeling overwhelmed. "Julian... I can't accept this. It’s too much. I saved you seven years ago because it was the right thing to do. I didn't do it for money or penthouses."
"I know you didn't," Julian said, his voice dropping into a tender, sincere tone. "That’s precisely why you deserve it. For seven years, I lived in a world where everyone wanted something from me—my money, my power, my protection. You are the only person who ever gave me everything she had without asking for a single thing in return."
Della looked down at her lap, her emotions swirling. "I was so scared, Julian. When Arthur left me... when I found out I was pregnant alone... I thought I was going to fail as a mother. I was working twelve-hour shifts at the hotel, my feet swelling, worrying about how I’d afford diapers or rent next month."
Julian reached over, gently taking her uninjured left hand in his, his thumb tracing her knuckles.
"Arthur Vance will never come near you again," Julian promised quietly. "He was formally indicted yesterday for financial fraud and is awaiting trial. Cordelia Vance is currently sitting in a holding cell at Rikers Island, unable to post bail. Her family’s business is gone."
Della looked at him, seeing the fierce, unshakeable loyalty in his eyes. For the first time in five months, the terrifying weight of anxiety that had been crushing her chest completely vanished. She felt safe. Truly, deeply safe.
"Thank you, Julian," she whispered.
"You don't need to thank me, Della," Julian replied, leaning closer, his dark eyes shining with an emotion he had kept locked away for years. "I told you seven years ago in that clinic that I would find you. It took me longer than I wanted... but I'm never letting you go again."
Suddenly, Della gasped softly, her hand flattening over her belly.
Julian’s posture instantly tensed, his eyes widening with concern. "What’s wrong? Are you in pain? Should I call the doctor back?!"
Della laughed—a light, musical sound that filled the sunlit room. She took Julian’s hand and placed it directly over the right side of her stomach.
"Feel," she whispered.
Julian froze. Beneath his palm, he felt a firm, distinct little kick.
Thump.
The powerful mafia boss, the man who had faced down rival syndicates and built a billion-dollar empire without flinching, stared at her belly in absolute, breathless wonder. His mouth parted slightly, a soft, awe-struck smile breaking across his handsome face.
"He’s... he’s kicking," Julian breathed, his voice trembling with a rare, pure emotion.

"She," Della corrected gently, her eyes shining with tears of happiness. "It’s a girl."
Julian looked up from her belly, meeting Della’s eyes. In that silent, sunlit room, a bond forged in rain and blood seven years ago was transformed into something entirely new—something built on hope, protection, and unconditional love.
