Chapter 6 - The Unbroken Circle

Six months later, the courtyard of the Lekki waterfront estate was filled with the bright, infectious sounds of family, laughter, and the gentle splashing of water from the fountain.
Little Maya Monroe sat propped up in a colorful baby chair on the green lawn, wearing a bright red dress, clapping her small hands as a butterfly fluttered past her nose. Her dark curls bounced with every movement, and her bright, expressive eyes sparkled with a joy that had no room for shadows.
Sienna sat on a woven mat beside her, laughing as Mama Ngozi tried to feed Maya a spoonful of mashed plantain.
From the veranda, Darius walked down the stone steps carrying two glasses of iced hibiscus tea. He wore a simple linen shirt and shorts, looking relaxed, grounded, and completely at peace with the world.
He handed a glass to Sienna, then sat down on the grass next to them, pulling Maya gently into his lap. The baby immediately grabbed one of his fingers with her tiny, strong grip, refusing to let go.
“She’s getting stronger every day,” Darius marveled, kissing the top of Maya’s head. “At this rate, she’ll be running the hospital board meetings before she turns five.”
Sienna smiled, leaning her head against his shoulder. “Just make sure she inherits your heart, Darius. Not your boardrooms.”
“My heart belongs right here,” he whispered, turning to press a tender kiss to her lips.

Far away, across the lagoon in Victoria Island, the grand mansion stood silent and cold, guarded by empty rooms and the heavy burden of unrepented pride. But inside this house in Lekki, the past had been washed clean by the rain, and the future stretched out before them like an open, sunlit sea.
They had survived the darkest storm a family could conjure, and in doing so, they had discovered that true wealth wasn't measured in shares, towers, or bank accounts—it was measured in the simple, unbreakable grace of being home.
