Chapter 5 - The Symphony of BloodThe revelation hung in the air of the penthouse like a quiet, magnificent chord held indefinitely.

Nadia stood motionless, tears streaming down her pale cheeks as her hands reached out instinctively toward him.

Cael took a step forward, gently taking her hands in his, bringing them up to his chest so she could feel the steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat beneath his shirt.

"You saved me," Nadia choked out, her voice breaking into soft sobs. "All these years... I thought I was alone in that fire."

"You were never alone, Nadia," Cael whispered, reaching up with his thumb to wipe the warm tears from her cheeks. "I watched over you from the shadows. I made sure your music school tuition was paid. I made sure your father’s old cello was restored and delivered to your apartment four years ago."

Nadia gasped softly, touching the crescent scar below her jaw—the scar she had carried since that fateful night. "The anonymous donor... it was always you."

"Always," Cael murmured, leaning down until his forehead rested gently against hers. "I promised myself I would never bring you into my dark world. But when you fell into my arms in that hotel lobby tonight... I realized I couldn't let you go again."

Before Nadia could answer, the security intercom on the wall flashed red, accompanied by a sharp, high-pitched alarm.

Dario’s voice crackled frantically through the speakers: "Boss! We have a breach on the lower garage level! Morchetti brought thirty heavy enforcers! They cut the main power grid!"

The glass windows of the penthouse shuddered as heavy gunfire echoed from the lower levels of the skyscraper.

Cael’s expression instantly transformed back into that of a lethal, unyielding Mafia Don. He pulled a concealed sidearm from his shoulder holster and stepped in front of Nadia, his broad frame shielding her completely.

"Dario! Evacuate the staff through the private helipad!" Cael ordered sharply into his wrist communicator. "Initiate lockdown protocol Delta!"

"Cael!" Nadia called out, her fingers clutching his sleeve tightly. "Don't leave me!"

"I will never leave you, Nadia," Cael said, his voice absolute and unwavering. He led her quickly toward a concealed steel door behind the bookshelf—a private, reinforced panic vault equipped with independent communications and surveillance feeds.

"Go inside," Cael instructed gently, pressing her white cane and her cello case into her hands. "The vault is bomb-proof. Lock the wheel from the inside. Do not open it for anyone except me."

"Cael, please—"

He leaned down and pressed a soft, lingering, and fiercely passionate kiss against her lips—a kiss that tasted of rain, fire, and absolute devotion.

"I fought twelve years to find you, Nadia Voss," Cael whispered against her lips. "I am not dying tonight."

He pushed her gently inside the vault, slammed the heavy steel door shut, and turned the brass lock wheel until it sealed with a heavy pneumatic thud.

Outside in the penthouse foyer, Cael turned to face the elevator doors as the metal panels buckled under heavy explosive charges.

His dark eyes burned with an apocalyptic fury. Morchetti had brought a war to his home—and tonight, Cael would end it once and for all.
