PART 4: THE ALLIANCE OF THE DAMNED

The Bennett brothers didn't kill Caleb that night; they did something far worse. They trapped him in his own web of lies. Jack pinned Caleb to a chair in an empty consultation room while Ryan brought in a handcuffed, terrified Vanessa, whom they had intercepted trying to flee to the airport with a suitcase full of Caleb’s embezzled corporate funds.
"Here is how this plays out," Ryan said, pulling up a laptop and spinning it toward Caleb. On the screen were thousands of encrypted files detailing Caleb’s offshore accounts, his human trafficking connections, and his corporate fraud. "Emily wasn't just sitting at home playing the good wife, Caleb. She spent the last three years gathering every piece of evidence needed to put you away for life. She sent it to us right before you attacked her."
Caleb stared at the screen, realizing his entire life was an illusion. Emily had known about Vanessa from day one. She had stayed only to ensure he could never hurt anyone else again.
"If you turn this over to the feds, you go down too," Caleb sneered, trying to find a shred of leverage. "Ryan, you're an escaped felon. Jack, you're a rogue black-ops soldier. The second you step into a courtroom, you're done."
Jack smiled, a terrifyingly cold expression. "We aren't going to a courtroom, Caleb. We operate in the dark. The federal prosecutor handling your case is an old friend of our father’s. We’ve already traded your life for our full pardons. You see, the government wants your father's political empire, and you're the key that unlocks the door."

Vanessa broke down into hysterical tears, instantly turning on Caleb. "I'll testify! I'll tell them everything! He forced me to help him! He told me he was going to kill her so we could have the inheritance!"
Caleb looked at his mistress, realizing that loyalty among monsters is a myth. He was completely, utterly alone.
