Chapter 6 - A Promised Horizon

One year later.

Spring had returned to New York, but this time, the rain was gone. Bright sunshine flooded the manicured lawns of the Moretti estate, turning the green grass into an emerald carpet sprinkled with blooming white tulips.

The heavy, foreboding atmosphere of the mansion was completely gone.

Laughter bounced off the stone walls. French doors swung wide open to the terrace, allowing a warm breeze carrying the scent of sweet jasmine to drift through the grand halls.

On the main lawn, a large white marquee tent had been erected for an intimate celebration.

Gabriel Moretti stood near the stone fountain on the terrace, wearing a impeccably tailored navy suit. His dark hair was styled neatly, but his face bore none of the cold, terrifying hardness of the past. He looked relaxed, radiant, and deeply content.

Beside him stood Marco, his arm fully healed, wearing a sharp suit and smiling warmly.

"Everything is prepared, Don Gabriel," Marco said respectfully. "The papers for the new charitable foundation in Mrs. Moretti's name have been signed. All remaining legacy assets have been fully transitioned into legitimate logistics firms."

"Thank you, Marco," Gabriel said, tapping his friend's shoulder. "For everything."

The doors to the terrace opened, and a murmur of delight passed through the gathered guests—a small, select group of trusted friends, family, and staff.

Emma stepped out onto the terrace.

She took Gabriel's breath away.

She wore an elegant, flowing ivory lace dress that hugged her soft curves with breathtaking perfection. Her dark blonde hair was styled in intricate curls pinned back with delicate pearl clips. She wore no heavy jewelry—only the brilliant diamond ring shining on her left hand and the warm, radiant smile that could light up the darkest room.

Behind her came the two little girls.

Sophia, now three years old, was dressed in a matching mini ivory dress, running ahead with her brown curls bouncing, tossing flower petals into the air with wild enthusiasm.

And behind Sophia came Lily.

Lily wore a matching dress and small white leather shoes.

She wasn't using a walker. She wasn't holding anyone's hand.

With only a tiny, barely noticeable brace under her knee, Lily walked steadily, proudly across the stone tiles of the terrace. Her hazel eyes shone with absolute confidence, her cheeks rosy with health and joy.

Gabriel felt a lump form in his throat, just as it had a year ago when he first watched her through a hidden camera lens. But today, there were no hidden lenses, no fear, and no shadows.

Gabriel walked down the terrace steps to meet them.

Lily looked up, saw her father, and broke into a sweet, joyful trot. "Daddy! Look! I'm running!"

Gabriel dropped to one knee, sweeping Lily up into his arms and spinning her around in the air as she squealed with laughter. Sophia tackled his legs, giggling uncontrollably.

Emma walked over, her eyes shining with happy tears as she watched her family.

Gabriel stood up, holding both daughters securely in his arms, and stepped close to his wife. He leaned down and pressed a deep, lingering kiss to Emma's lips.

"You ready, my love?" Gabriel asked softly against her mouth.

Emma looked around at the sunlit estate, at the laughing children, and at the strong, devoted man whose eyes reflected her entire world.

"I've been ready since the day I walked through those doors," Emma whispered softly, resting her head against his chest.

Gabriel wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close as their daughters giggled between them. Under the bright blue New York sky, the coldest house in the city had finally become what it was always meant to be: a home filled with endless, unbreakable love.
