Chapter 6 - The Queen of the EstateSix months later.

The grand ballroom of the Rossi estate was filled once again with hundreds of guests, sparkling chandeliers, and soft orchestral music.

Politicians, corporate leaders, and high-ranking syndicate bosses from across the country filled the room, sipping champagne and speaking in quiet, respectful tones. But the atmosphere was entirely different from the gala held nearly a year ago.

There was no tension. No looming shadow of betrayal.

At the center of the grand staircase stood Carmela Rossi, dressed in a magnificent emerald silk gown, smiling happily as she greeted old friends, her mind sharp, her dignity entirely restored.

A hush fell over the ballroom as the heavy double doors at the top of the stairs opened.

Dominic Rossi stepped out onto the landing, looking impeccably handsome in a tailored black tuxedo. But he wasn't walking alone.

Beside him walked Skyler Gallagher.

She wore a breathtaking, custom-made midnight-blue satin gown that hugged her voluptuous curves with magnificent, regal elegance. Her dark hair fell in soft curls around her shoulders, and on her left cheek, the faint silver line caught the light of the chandeliers like a badge of pure honor.

Around her neck hung a breathtaking diamond necklace—a gift from Dominic—and on her left ring finger sat a flawless, emerald-cut sapphire surrounded by white gold.

The crowd below held its breath as Dominic gently took Skyler’s hand, leading her down the grand staircase step by step.

There were no jokes. No cruel whispers about her body. No arrogant socialites looking down at her.

Every powerful man and woman in New York bowed their heads in genuine, profound respect as the future mistress of the Rossi family walked past them.

They reached the bottom of the stairs, where Carmela was waiting with a golden champagne glass in her hand.

Carmela reached out, taking Skyler’s hand and pressing it against her heart.

“My beautiful daughter,” Carmela whispered, tears of joy shining in her eyes. “Look at how far you have come.”

“I didn't do it alone, Ma,” Skyler smiled softly, looking at the old woman who had first seen her true worth when she was just a clumsy maid dropping glasses.

Dominic stepped up beside Skyler, sliding his arm around her waist, pulling her close against his chest. He turned to face the grand ballroom, holding his glass high into the air.

The room went completely silent, every eye fixed upon their leader.

“Tonight,” Dominic announced, his powerful voice echoing off the high, painted ceilings, “we celebrate a new era for the Rossi family. An era built not on fear, or fake alliances, but on unwavering loyalty, honor, and true courage.”

He turned his head, looking down at Skyler with a love so deep, so intense, it made the rest of the world fade into insignificance.

“To my fiancee, Skyler,” Dominic declared, his voice filled with fierce, unyielding pride. “The heart of this house, the guardian of my family, and the queen of my life.”

The ballroom erupted into deafening applause and cheers.

Skyler looked up into Dominic’s clear blue eyes, feeling the warmth of his love wrapping around her like a protective shield that would never break.

She no longer wished to be invisible. She no longer tried to take up less space.

She stood tall, proud, and completely whole, wrapped in the arms of the man who loved every inch of her soul.

Dominic leaned down, pressing his lips against hers in a slow, sweet, passionate kiss that sealed their promise for a lifetime—a promise born in blood, proven in courage, and crowned in everlasting love.
