Chapter 6 - The Princess of Chicago

Six months later.

The grand gardens of the Moretti Gold Coast estate were adorned with thousands of white roses and shimmering crystal chandeliers hanging from the ancient oak trees.

The wedding was the most grand event Chicago had seen in a decade. Governors, legitimate business leaders, and loyal family capos filled the marble courtyard, all dressed in formal attire to honor the Don and his new bride.

Inside the bride's dressing room, I stood in front of a full-length mirror wearing a delicate white lace dress with a soft pink sash. A tiny silver tiara rested in my dark wavy hair.

My mother looked breathtaking in her silk lace wedding gown, her face glowing with radiance as she adjusted my veil.

A knock sounded at the door, and Vincent walked in, wearing a sharp black tuxedo with a white rose pinned to his lapel. He stopped in his tracks, looking at the two of us with tears shimmering in his dark eyes.

"You both look like angels," Vincent said softly, stepping closer.

"Are you ready, Don Moretti?" Nora teased gently, resting her hand against his chest.

"I have been ready for nine years, my love," Vincent replied, kissing her cheek.

He then turned to me, kneeling down on one knee so he was at eye level with me. He pulled a small, beautifully wrapped velvet box from his pocket.

"This is for you, my flower," Vincent said.

I opened the box to find a delicate silver bracelet adorned with a small charm shaped like a lily flower. On the back of the charm, tiny letters were engraved: Lily Moretti – Forever Protected, Forever Loved.

"Thank you, Daddy!" I squealed, throwing my small arms around his neck.

Vincent held me tightly, lifting me up into his arms effortlessly as he stood up.

"When we first met in this house, you were an eight-year-old girl hiding in the kitchen, trying to save your mother," Vincent whispered against my hair. "Today, you step out into the world as my daughter, the princess of everything I own."

Together, the three of us walked out of the suite and stepped through the grand French doors into the sunlit garden.

The orchestra began to play a beautiful melody, and the crowd stood up, applauding with genuine respect and warmth as Don Vincent Moretti walked down the aisle with his wife and daughter by his side.

The days of darkness, poison, and shelters were gone forever.

In their place was a future built on unbreakable love, absolute loyalty, and a family that no power on earth could ever tear apart again.
