Chapter 6 - The True EndingTen minutes later, the apartment was secure. The intruders were zip-tied and loaded into transport vans in the alley by Vincent’s men, never to see the light of a courtroom.

Grant walked slowly down the hallway, his hands slightly trembling as he pushed open the door to the panic room.
Clara sat on the edge of a small cot, holding all three babies close against her chest. They were awake now, blinking sleepily in the warm light, sensing that the danger had passed.
Grant knelt down in front of them. He didn't try to touch her or take the babies. He simply looked at them with a profound, humbling reverence.
"They're safe," Grant whispered. "The threat is permanently gone. No one will ever touch them again."
Clara looked down at him. The harsh fluorescent lights of the panic room caught the silver streaks in his hair and the raw, honest vulnerability in his gray eyes. He was no longer the arrogant billionaire who had thrown her out of his penthouse a year ago. He was a man reborn in the fire of his own mistakes.
"You really stepped down from Blackwell Bridge?" Clara asked softly.
"I traded a corporation for a family," Grant said, taking her hand gently. This time, she didn't pull away. "If you'll let me... I want to build a real home. Not a penthouse of glass and suspicion, but a home with flour on the kitchen floor, grilled cheese burned at midnight, and you."
Leo reached out a tiny, chubby hand from Clara’s arms, his fingers wrapping firmly around Grant’s index finger.
Grant’s breath caught. A single tear broke free, tracking down his cheek as he looked down at his son, then up at the woman who had carried his world through the storm.
Clara let out a long, shaky breath, a soft, forgiving smile finally touching her lips.

"Welcome home, Grant," she whispered.
Outside, the Chicago sun broke through the autumn clouds, bathing the Wicker Park skyline in brilliant, golden light, sealing a chapter of pain and opening a dawn of unbreakable grace.
