Chapter 6 - A Crown of Heart and Sea

One year later.

The Amalfi Coast of Italy was a masterpiece of coastal beauty. Towering green cliffs plunged into the deep blue waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, where colorful pastel houses clung to the rocks like bright jewels under the Mediterranean sun.

High atop a private cliffside estate in Ravello, a grand wedding was taking place.

The gardens were covered in thousands of white roses, olive branches, and lemon blossoms. Two hundred guests sat in carved wooden chairs—loyal captains, international diplomats, renovated medical staff, and healthcare workers from Providence whom Nora had invited personally.

Standing at the altar overlooking the sea was Zeo Rossi.

He wore a tailored white linen tuxedo, his dark hair neatly trimmed, his sharp features illuminated by the golden Mediterranean light. Beside him stood Matteo, looking proud and imposing as his best man.

The violin ensemble began to play a soft, breathtaking Italian love ballad.

The crowd stood up in reverence.

At the top of the marble stairs leading down into the garden, Nora Vance appeared.

She was a vision of absolute grace and beauty. She wore an exquisite, custom-made gown of hand-stitched Venetian lace that trailed behind her across the stone pathway. Her dark hair was styled into a soft crown of braids woven with tiny white orchids, framing her radiant, glowing face.

Around her neck gleamed a simple, stunning platinum necklace set with a single teardrop diamond—Zeo’s first personal gift to her.

She held a bouquet of fresh lemon blossoms and white lilies in her hands.

As she walked down the aisle, her hazel eyes remained locked on Zeo.

Zeo felt his breath catch in his throat. The man who had faced down rival armies, federal prosecutors, and assassin bullets felt his hands shake with pure, overwhelming joy.

Nora reached the altar. Zeo stepped forward, taking her small hand into his large, warm grip, leading her up the steps to stand beside him.

The priest smiled warmly, opening his leather-bound book.

"Friends, family, and honored guests," the priest’s voice carried over the soft rustle of olive leaves and the distant murmur of the sea. "We are gathered here today to join Zeo Rossi and Nora Vance in the sacred bond of holy matrimony."

The ceremony was filled with profound dignity and deep emotion.

When the time came for the exchange of vows, Zeo looked directly into Nora’s eyes, his deep voice echoing with absolute sincerity:

"Nora, I spent my life in the shadows, believing that loyalty was something you bought with money or enforced with fear. But when I lay helpless in the dark, you gave me your light. You fought for me when everyone else sought to destroy me. You showed me that real strength comes from the heart. I promise to love you, honor you, build a life of peace with you, and protect you with every breath I have left."

Nora’s eyes sparkled with happy tears as she squeezed his hands.

"Zeo, when I walked into your hospital room, I saw a man surrounded by enemies, yet carrying a soul that refused to break. You saw me when I was invisible to the world. You gave me back my dreams, my dignity, and a future I never dared to imagine. I promise to love you, stand beside you, bring you joy, and be your sanctuary forever."

"By the authority vested in me," the priest declared with a beaming smile, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!"

Zeo pulled Nora into his arms, dipping her gently back, and pressed his lips to hers in a long, passionate kiss that brought the entire garden to its feet in thunderous applause!

Rose petals rained down from the canopy above, caught in the warm Italian sea breeze.

Two Years Later.

The sun was setting over the private beach behind their restored estate in Newport, Rhode Island.

A gentle breeze stirred the tall grass along the dunes.

Zeo sat on a large wooden bench near the water's edge, wearing a soft gray sweater and linen trousers. Resting safely in his arms was a dark-haired, eight-month-old baby boy with bright, observant hazel eyes—their son, Leo Rossi.

Nora walked down the wooden path from the house, carrying a tray with two mugs of hot tea. She wore a comfortable cashmere sweater, her face filled with serene, absolute happiness.

She set the tray down and sat beside Zeo, leaning her head against his shoulder.

Zeo wrapped his free arm around her waist, pulling her close as little Leo reached up with a tiny hand to grasp his father's thumb.

Zeo looked at his wife, then down at his son, feeling a profound, overwhelming peace that filled every corner of his soul.

Faking a coma had been meant to expose the snakes in his empire. He had expected to find blood, treason, and death.

Instead, the fake coma had brought him the greatest truth of his life—a silent maid whose brave heart had saved him from the grave and given him a kingdom built on love.

Zeo leaned down, kissing Nora gently on the forehead as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of gold and crimson.
