Chapter 4 - The Midnight ExchangeThe meeting was set for 11:30 p.m. at an abandoned auto body shop in the industrial district of Mooca. Rain poured relentlessly from the black sky, sheets of water washing over the rusted iron roofs and cracked concrete pavement.

Marcos pulled his car into the dark alleyway, holding a leather briefcase filled with fake property deeds provided by the Civil Police. His heart was pounding, but his face remained a mask of trembling fear.
Underneath his jacket, a miniature wiretap was taped securely to his chest, broadcasting every sound directly to Officer Lima and a team of twenty armed tactical officers waiting in silenced vans two blocks away.
Marcos stepped out of the car, clutching the briefcase against his chest as he walked into the dim, oil-stained interior of the garage.
A single spotlight shone over a wooden table. Standing behind it was Marcelo Ramos—a heavy-set man with a scarred neck and dark, predatory eyes—flanked by three heavily armed enforcers carrying submachine guns.
"You’re punctual, accountant," Ramos sneered, flicking a lit cigarette onto the wet floor. "That shows you value your brat’s life."
"I brought the signed documents," Marcos said, his voice shaking with executed perfection. "Just promise me you’ll leave my son alone! Please! He’s all I have left!"
"Relax," Ramos chuckled, stepping forward and snatched the briefcase from Marcos’s hands. He flipped it open, skimming through the forged power-of-attorney documents bearing Ana Clara’s fabricated signature. "Once these are filed with our corrupt notary tomorrow morning, the land is ours. You can go back to crying over your dead wife."
"Did you know?" Marcos asked suddenly, his voice instantly losing its tremor, turning cold as iron. "Did you know Gustavo was going to kill her?"
Ramos paused, looking up from the papers with a smirk. "Gustavo was a coward. He panicked when she found the missing funds. He asked us how to make an accident look clean. My guys were the ones who cut her brake line in her office parking lot. It cost him an extra fifty thousand, but he was paying with her money anyway."
Through his hidden earpiece, Marcos heard Officer Lima’s sharp command: "Target has confessed to conspiracy to commit homicide. Move in! Move in!"
CRASH!
The skylights above the garage shattered in a rain of glass as tactical SWAT officers rappelled down from ropes, flashbang grenades detonating with deafening booms!
BANG! BANG! FLASH!
"POLICE! ON THE GROUND! DON'T MOVE!"
Blinding white light filled the garage. Ramos’s enforcers attempted to raise their weapons, but tactical officers tackled them to the ground within seconds, securing them in heavy zip-ties.
Ramos tried to bolt toward a rear escape door, but Marcos stepped directly into his path, dropping his shoulder and driving the heavy criminal boss into a stack of steel tires. Ramos hit the floor hard, gasping for air, as Officer Lima sprinted in, pinning his head down with her boot and clicking handcuffs around his wrists.
"Marcelo Ramos," Lima barked, reading him his rights over the ringing of his ears. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, extortion, and armed racketeering."

Ramos glared up at Marcos, spitting blood onto the concrete. "You... you set me up!"
Marcos stepped over him, looking down with calm, unyielding dignity. "You tried to destroy my family for land and money. But my wife protected my son, and my son gave me the strength to finish you."
