Chapter 5 - Showdown at O’Hare PrivateThe private airstrip at O’Hare was slick with freezing rain. Floodlights cut through the mist, illuminating a sleek Gulfstream jet idling on the tarmac with its turbines screaming.

Two black state police cruisers blocked the access road, their red and blue emergency strobes flashing rhythmically against the wet asphalt.

Adrian’s sedan didn't slow down. It slammed straight through the lightweight security gate, sending plastic debris flying before screeching to a halt ten feet from the aircraft steps.

Before the state troopers could draw their sidearms, the back doors flew open. Adrian stepped out first, his charcoal coat billowing in the wind, followed closely by Emma and Marcus.

Judge Miller, flanked by two armed deputies, stepped down from the boarding stairs of the jet, his face twisted in a snarl.

“Vale! You’re trespassing on a restricted federal-state transit zone,” Miller shouted over the roar of the jet engines. “Stand down or my men will open fire.”

“Put the guns down, Miller,” Adrian’s voice carried an absolute, terrifying authority that made the state troopers hesitate. “The game is over. The federal grand jury already has your bank records, your shell corporations, and the audio files from the Kingsley garage cover-up.”

George Kessler appeared behind the judge, looking frantic and disheveled. “Don't listen to him! Shoot them! Shoot them now!”

Instead of raising their weapons, the troopers looked at each other nervously. The flashing lights of three unmarked federal SUVs suddenly appeared from behind the hangars, their sirens cutting through the night as dozen FBI agents swarmed the tarmac, weapons drawn.

Miller’s face drained of color. “You... you can't do this. I am the law in this county.”

“You were the law,” Emma stepped forward, her voice ringing clear and steady above the wind. She lifted her chin, staring down the corrupt judge with the same unyielding strength her father had possessed. “My name is Emma Lawson. Owen Lawson was my father.”

Miller recoiled as if struck. “That was fifteen years ago—!”

“And the truth doesn't expire,” Emma interrupted coldly.

Federal agents moved in instantly, slapping handcuffs on George Kessler and pinning Judge Miller against the side of the police cruiser. The corruption that had choked their lives for a decade was finally being dismantled in the cold glare of the runway lights.
