Chapter 6 - A New DawnThe morning sun broke over the Chicago skyline, casting a golden glow across the quiet streets of Beacon Hill. The air was crisp, carrying the clean scent of melting frost and a fresh start.

Inside the sunlit kitchen of a townhouse overlooking the river, Emma poured two cups of coffee, the steam rising gently between her hands.

The trials of George Kessler and Judge Miller were already dominating national headlines, but inside these walls, the noise of the city felt a million miles away.

Adrian walked into the kitchen, wearing a simple gray sweater, his movements relaxed. The tension that had defined him for fifteen years seemed to have finally melted away, leaving behind a man who no longer needed armor to face the world.

He walked up behind her, wrapping his arms gently around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.

“You’re up early,” he murmured, pressing a soft kiss to her neck.

“Couldn't sleep,” Emma smiled, leaning back against his chest. She lifted her left hand, letting the morning light catch the simple silver band that rested beside her fingers—not a ring of power or corruption, but a promise.

“Thinking about the restaurant?” Adrian asked softly.

“Thinking about how five nights ago, I thought spilling water on you was the worst thing that could ever happen to me.” She turned in his arms, looking up into those deep green eyes that now held only warmth and devotion.

“Instead, you saved my life,” Adrian said, his voice thick with emotion. “And you gave me back my future.”

“My father told you to give him two minutes when you were seventeen,” Emma whispered, a gentle smile playing on her lips. “I think you owe me a lifetime.”

Adrian smiled—a real, unreserved smile that reached his eyes—and pulled her close. “Done.”
