Chapter 4 - The UnmaskingLorenzo descended the final stair, his broad shoulders squared, his gaze locked onto Vanessa Sinclair with an intensity that made the surrounding guests step back in fear.

"Miss Sinclair," Lorenzo said, his voice carrying effortlessly across the silent ballroom. "I asked you a question."

Vanessa’s smile faltered, her painted lips trembling slightly. She tried to laugh it off, holding up her champagne glass. "It was harmless teasing, Lorenzo! Honestly, you're creating a scene over your housekeeper!"

"My head housekeeper," Lorenzo corrected, his tone dropping into a dangerous, icy register that sent chills through the room. "The woman responsible for the fact that every person in this room has been fed, seated, protected, and made comfortable without ever noticing the labor required."

Vanessa’s face tightened with sudden, sharp anger. "You would jeopardize our relationship and our business merger over an employee?!"

Lorenzo stopped directly in front of her.

"There was never a relationship," Lorenzo stated flatly, his voice echoing in the dead quiet. "And as of five minutes ago, there is no merger."

Gasp! A collective shock rippled through the ballroom! Arthur Sinclair, who was standing near the stage, dropped his wine glass, shattering it against the marble floor.

"Lorenzo!" Arthur shouted, rushing forward, his face red with rage. "What is the meaning of this insolence?! You cannot pull out of the international design tour! My firm has invested fifty million dollars into the pavilion blueprints!"

"Your blueprints, Arthur?" Lorenzo turned slowly to face the elder Sinclair, a dark, lethal smile spreading across his handsome features. "Or the blueprints stolen from a nineteen-year-old student fifteen years ago?"

Arthur went dead pale. His jaw worked silently, his eyes darting frantically around the room. "That—that is slander! I am an internationally acclaimed architect!"

Lorenzo raised his hand and snapped his fingers once.

The heavy oak doors at the back of the ballroom opened. Two uniformed federal marshals, accompanied by Lorenzo’s chief legal counsel, walked into the room carrying a locked metal briefcase.

Lorenzo walked over to Olivia. In front of three hundred stunned billionaire guests, the feared mafia don did not look at Vanessa, nor at the cameras, nor at the press.

He reached out, took Olivia’s hand in his, and gently pulled her away from the service entrance into the warm, golden light of the ballroom’s center floor.

"Lorenzo... what are you doing?" Olivia whispered, her heart hammering against her ribs as every camera in the room turned toward them.

"I am giving you back your life, my love," Lorenzo whispered back, his thumb rubbing the back of her hand softly.

He turned to the federal marshals. "Open the case."

The lawyer unlocked the briefcase and pulled out the yellowed, leather-bound sketchbook, along with a stack of certified forensic handwriting analyses and dated copyright filings from 2011.

Lorenzo picked up the sketchbook and held it high for the press cameras to record.

"Fifteen years ago," Lorenzo announced loudly, his voice filling every corner of the vast space, "Arthur and Vanessa Sinclair framed a brilliant young designer named Olivia Bennett. They stole forty of her original architectural concepts, expelled her from Parsons, and built their multi-billion-dollar empire on her blood, sweat, and genius!"

The room erupted into absolute bedlam! Flashbulbs began popping frantically! Reporters scrambled to record the documents being projected onto the massive screens above the stage!

Vanessa stared at the sketchbook, her eyes wide with unadulterated terror. "No... no! That’s impossible! How did you get that?!"

"Your father kept it in his Swiss safe as a souvenir of his greatest theft," Lorenzo said coldly. "The federal prosecutor’s office has already verified the original ink and paper degradation. As of six o'clock this evening, an injunction has been issued freezing all Sinclair Design accounts, revoking your patents, and issuing arrest warrants for grand theft intellectual property and corporate fraud!"

"No! You can't do this to me!" Vanessa shrieked, her pristine facade crumbling into hysterical, ugly sobbing as the two federal marshals stepped up behind her and her father, pulling metal handcuffs from their belts.

"Take them away," Lorenzo commanded flatly.

As the disgraced Sinclairs were escorted out of the ballroom in handcuffs through a sea of flashing cameras and shouting reporters, the room turned its full attention back to the center floor.

Lorenzo turned to face Olivia.

He raised her hand to his lips, pressing a tender, lingering kiss against her knuckles right in front of the entire world.

"Everyone look at this woman," Lorenzo declared softly, his eyes filled with absolute pride and adoration. "She is not just my head housekeeper. She is the true genius behind modern architecture. And starting tonight... she is the sole owner and CEO of Bennett Global Design."
