Chapter 6 - A New DawnFour weeks later, the maternity ward of Charleston General Hospital was filled with the soft, sweet hum of life.

Outside the private recovery suite, the spring sunlight poured through the large bay windows, illuminating the blooming azaleas in the hospital gardens.
Inside the room, the air was warm and smelled of baby powder and fresh flowers.
Claire lay propped up against a pile of soft white pillows, cradling a tiny, perfect bundle wrapped in a pale pink blanket. The baby had thick, dark hair like her father’s and bright, curious eyes that blinked sleepily against the light.
Adrian sat on the edge of the mattress, gently tracing the tiny, flawless fingers of his newborn daughter.
“Have you decided on a name?” a gentle voice asked from the doorway.
Hannah stood there holding a small bouquet of wildflowers, smiling warmly. After testifying against Eleanor, Hannah had been offered a permanent executive scholarship funded by Adrian to finish her degree in business administration—a true fresh start.
Claire looked up at Adrian, her eyes shining with unshed tears of pure joy. They had discussed it through every dark night of the ordeal, holding onto each other when hope seemed thin.
“Aurora,” Claire whispered, looking down at the baby. “Because no matter how long the night lasted, the dawn always comes.”
Adrian kissed Claire’s forehead gently, then pressed his lips to his daughter’s soft crown.

The dark estate with its locked doors, cold marble hallways, and whispered threats was already a distant memory, locked away in the past where it belonged. Here, in the quiet warmth of the hospital room, there were no secrets, no intimidation, and no fear.
Only a family, united, unbroken, and fiercely protected by a love that no amount of darkness could ever extinguish.
