Chapter 6 - A Life Worth LivingTwo years later.

The coastal breeze was soft and warm, carrying the sweet scent of lemon trees and salty sea air across the cliffside terrace of the Moretti estate in Amalfi, Italy. The Mediterranean Sea stretched out endlessly below, a brilliant carpet of deep blue reflecting the afternoon sun.

A long dining table set with white linen, fresh flowers, and bowls of handmade pasta sat under the shade of a grapevine trellis.

Laughter filled the air. Vanessa sat at the table, enjoying a glass of prosecco alongside Marco, who had surprisingly become her fiancé six months prior. Several close friends and family members were gathered, celebrating a joyous occasion.

Near the edge of the stone terrace, Olivia stood wearing a loose, comfortable white linen dress that fluttered in the gentle wind. Her hair was pulled back loosely, her skin glowing with radiant health and happiness.

Julian walked up behind her, wrapping his arms securely around her waist, resting his hands gently over her round, prominent pregnant belly.

Olivia placed her hands over his, leaning back comfortably against his broad, solid chest.

"How is our little prince doing today?" Julian murmured into her ear, his deep voice rich with contentment as he felt a strong, energetic kick from inside her womb.

Olivia laughed softly, placing her head back against his shoulder. "He’s as impatient as his father. He’s been kicking all afternoon."

Julian smiled, pressing a sweet kiss to her neck. "He just wants to see the world his mother built for him."

Olivia looked out over the sparkling sea, her mind briefly drifting back to the dark past—to the small, terrifying apartment, the endless fear, the feeling of being trapped in a cage with no escape. It felt like a lifetime ago, a bad dream that had completely dissolved in the warmth of the sun.

She turned in Julian’s arms, framing his handsome, scarred face with her hands. His dark eyes locked onto hers with the exact same intense, fierce devotion he had shown her from the very first night at the bar.

"I love you, Julian," she whispered softly.

Julian leaned down, resting his forehead against hers, a soft, genuine smile gracing his lips.

"I loved you in the dark, Olivia," Julian answered gently. "And I will love you forever in the light."

As the sun began its slow descent into the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow across the terrace, Julian pulled his wife into his arms, kissing her deeply as their friends toasted to their health and happiness.

The fear was gone. The cage was broken. And in its place, a timeless, unbreakable love had bloomed—a love that had conquered the shadows and claimed the light forever.
